Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | You Make Me Smile
Today I have a fun card to share with you made using one of my favourite stamp sets in the 2019-20 Annual Catalogue – We’ll Walrus Be Friends. I’m also using a new -to me stamp & die set, Well Said & the coordinating Well Written Dies.
I’m playing along with this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge (CTS#335) for my layout and as soon as I saw those wavy lines I knew I wanted to use the cute walrus popping out of the waves as my focal image.
I’ve used a few other products today as well as my usual Stampin’ Up! ones to get the look I was after for this card. I’m sure most of you have other product in your stash and sometimes you just have to mix & match them to make your idea work 🙂
I blended Distress Oxide inks onto Bristol Smooth cardstock using a Picket Fence blending brush for the very first time for this project and really love the result. This was the perfect background for a newbie to start with and I’m looking forward to many more in the future 🙂
The waves were cut from Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana & Pool Party cardstock using the Ocean Waves Borders from Lawn Fawn.
I stamped my image in Momento Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and used my Stampin’ Blends Markers in Light & Dark Crumb Cake, Light Smoky Slate & the Color Lifter to colour him and his friend in.
I fussy cut him out with my Paper Snips and after I’d decided his placement, stamped another walrus to replace the sketchy bits that were lost from the fussy cutting.
Before I adhered the Coastal Cabana waves in place, I stamped a sentiment from Well Said onto it using my Stamparatus in Momento Black ink, die cut the word “you” from the Well Written Dies three times in Crumb Cake cardstock, adhered them together for a little dimension and popped that on top.
The only embellishment I added were three sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment, they added just the right amount of sparkle to my project and were the perfect colour 🙂
To finish off the inside of my card I added a die cut layer with another sentiment from Well Said and one of the fish from We’ll Walrus Be Friends. My Stampin’ Blends Markers brightened up the fish and added a sweet pop of colour to this simple layer.
I was so happy to break out this fun stamp set again and think he looks so sweet bobbing amongst the waves. I have some other dies in my stash that I really want to use with the We’ll Walrus Be Friends as well and hope they’ll look as good as the ones I used for today’s project 🙂
Cheers,
Karen
