12 Weeks of Halloween 2018 | Week 11

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | 12 Weeks of Halloween 2018 – Week 11

Today I have not one, but two fun treat holders to share with you, both made using the Takeout Treats Bundle. Both projects are a variation on the standard box and great way to get even more out of this die set 🙂

I’ve made a sweet coffin-shaped pouch that’s perfect to use up your bigger scraps of cardstock and an open-topped box that would be great to hold assorted goodies on a table and handy for treats a little too big to fit in the standard sized box.

I’ll start off with the pouch as this is the quickest & easiest one to make. You’ll need two pieces of cardstock approx. 2-1/2″ x 4″ to cut a front and back section. After you’ve cut them out, create a small tab on the bottom of just one piece to seal up the base of the pouch.

As these are so small I kept my decoration very simple. The sentiment is from Spooky Cat (retired) and I die cut it out with the small tag in the Takeout Thinlits. I added a Silver Foil spider web, die cut using the Seasonal Tags Framelits as a simple embellishment and adhered these with glue dots under a simple knot of Glittered Organdy Ribbon.

My second project is an open-topped version of the standard Takeout Treats box. To create this I die cut the box pieces as usual and trimmed the top pieces just below where they start to go inwards. This created some small tabs that I adhered inside the top of my box to make the opening a little sturdier and have neater edges, this is optional however and you could just cut off the top tabs for a similar look.

I stamped one of the sentiments from Takeout Treats tone-on-tone to decorate the sides of my boxes, before assembling and added a 1/2″ x length of Basic Black cardstock around the top as a simple trim. I ran this strip through my paper crimper (non SU) to add some texture, but you could use your score board or the Corrugated TIEF to achieve a similar look or just use ribbon or DSP instead.

The Takeout Treats Thinlits are one of my favourite die sets in the 2018 Holiday Catalogue – I love 3D items –  so I was thrilled to discover these simple variations that make them even more versatile, I hope you like them too 🙂

Well, there’s just one more week to go in this year’s series and I’ll have some quick and easy projects to share with you, perfect for last-minute makes 🙂

Cheers,
Karen
