Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Bunny Hop 2019 – Mini Milk Cartons
Welcome to this year’s Bunny Hop! I’ll be sharing an Easter themed project once a week for the next six weeks to help “Spring-start” your treat giving – sorry for the awful pun, I couldn’t help myself 😉
If you’d like to create with me I’ll be mainly using the Best Bunny Bundle & Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon (from the 2018-19 Annual Catalogue), Gingham Gala DSP & Gingham Gala Sequins (from the 2019 Occasions Catalogue) and the coordinating cardstock.
I will be using some other stamp sets as the Best Bunny stamp set doesn’t have any Easter sentiments, most small sentiments sets would be suitable or you could leave your projects plain – they’ll look just as cute 🙂
Today I’m starting with one of my favourites, mini milk cartons. These sweeties measure 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ x 2-3/4″ and only use a 6-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ piece of cardstock, which means you can make two from one piece of A4 cardstock.
I’ve made one of each colour in the Gingham Gala DSP pack and used the coordinating cardstock for the bases, you could just use white or another coordinating neutral – like Crumb Cake instead, which would look just as good and is a great alternative if you have limited supplies 🙂
Usually I like to have my boxes resealable, but this time I just stapled them closed and covered the staple with Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon bow. This ribbon is the perfect addition to these cute boxes, but is a little temperamental to tie – it could just be user error of course 😉 so I didn’t think it would be suitable as a closure.
I used the smaller bunny from the Best Bunny stamp set stamped on Whisper White cardstock, coloured with Stampin’ Blends Markers and fussy cut with Paper Snips. I wanted to keep the image light so only used the Ivory marker with a little Light Calypso Coral for the cheeks and ears. To make his tummy lighter I went over it with the Colour Lifter which created the lighter shade.
The grassy background is from the same set, stamped twice in Granny Apple Green and coloured with Light & Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends Markers. I diecut this out with one of the Stitched Labels Framelits, but you could easily trim it out by hand or use any grass die you have in your stash for the same look.
The sentiment is from Wood Words and I die cut it out with one of the Call Me Cupcake Framelits and added a coordinating flower Gingham Gala Sequin for a simple embellishment.
Here’s the How To:
Finished Dimensions: 2-3/4″ x 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″
Cardstock: 6-1/2″ x 4-1/2″
DSP: 1-3/8″ x 1-3/8″ (x4)
1-3/8″ x 7/8″ (x2)
- Score @ 1-1/2″, 3, 4-1/2″ & 6″ (on the 6-1/2″ side)
- Turn 90º
- Score @ 1-1/2″, 3″ & 4″ (on the 4-1/2″ side)
- Fold & burnish all score lines
- Cut 1-1/2″, 3″, 4-1/2″ & 6″ score lines to the first horizontal score line to form base
- Remove the small rectangle from side tab
- Add DSP pieces to all four lower sections and the front and back at the top only
- Add adhesive to the side tab and base sections
- Assemble as usual
These little milk carton look so sweet together, I hope you like them as much as I do 🙂 I think they’d also make lovely favours for a baby shower or little one’s birthday as well a fun Easter treat. I have rather a large supply list today, but that’s just because I’ve used all the coordinating cardstock and inks, you really don’t need all these for this project, just use what you have, they will look just as cute 😉
Cheers,
Karen
