OBG – Rooted In Nature

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | OBG – Rooted In Nature

Hi everyone 🖐 Today I have a quick & easy card to share with you made using an OBG (Oldie but Goodie) from the 2020-21 Annual Catalogue, Rooted In Nature & the coordinating Nature’s Roots Dies.

Little Paper Party, Rooted In Nature, Nature's Roots Dies, 1
Rooted In Nature is a large stamp set that comes in two stamp cases & is full of lovely tree & leaf images with several sentiments as well.  I decided to use the largest tree for my focal image and stamped it in Mossy Meadow ink on Sahara Sand cardstock and cut it out with the coordinating die.

I used two circles from the Stitched Shapes Dies & Early Espresso cardstock to create a frame for my tree which helps it stand out from the background and grounds it as well. After I’d adhered my frame & tree together I added dimensionals to pop this element up which also adds some texture .

The background was created with one of the leafy images and I used Sahara Sand ink on Sahara Sand cardstock plus 1st & 2nd generation stamping to get the look I was after. I cut this down with a stitched rectangle and adhered it to a Mossy Meadow layer & then a Thick Very Vanilla card base.

The sentiment was stamped using the Stamparatus to get a really dark impression and then I fussy cut it out with my Paper Snips, drew around it on some Early Espresso cardstock and trimmed around this adding a small border. I adhered my sentiment & shadow layer together & popped this element up with dimensionals as well.

I really wanted to add some embellishment that didn’t distract from the simplicity of this card so used my Clear Wink of Stella to add a little sparkle to the stems of the leaves on the background layer & the branches in the tree. It’s very subtle in person and added just the right amount of something I was after 😁

I finished off the inside with the same layers as the front and a little stamping in two corners. I really like to finish my insides to coordinate with the front, but usually don’t add a sentiment. I think this makes my card more versatile, gives me more room to write a personal message & I can always one later if I want.

I haven’t used this stamp set for such a long time it was great to get it out again and as it’s such a large one there were several images that haven’t seen ink, but now another two have been christened 😁

Cheers,
Karen
