Slimline Butterfly Gala

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Slimline Butterfly Gala

Hi everyone 🖐 I have a slightly different style card to share with you today using the Butterfly Gala & Beautiful Friendship stamp sets from the 2020-21 Annual Catalogue.

I thought I’d try my hand at one of the slimline cards that seem to be popping up everywhere and I have to admit I really like how this card turned out and will definitely be adding them to my card making range 😊

Little Paper Party, Butterfly Gala, Beautiful Friendship, 1

Slimline cards are usually designed to fit into a standard business envelope which in Australia is a DL size, so I cut my A4 (8.25″ x 11.75″) Thick Whisper White cardstock to 8.25 x 8″ and scored it at 4″ to create a 8.25″ x 4″ card base which fits perfectly.

The layers I added are all 0.25″ smaller than the previous layer & I’ll add all the measurements at the end for both A4 & Letter cardstock so you can make one for the cardstock size that you have.

One of the advantages of slimline cards is that you have a larger area to decorate, which was perfect as I wanted to add lots of butterflies to the card front without it looking too crowded. To create a simple background for them I stamped the hydrangea image from Beautiful Friendship in Seaside Spray and added the leaves in Just Jade ink.

The butterflies outlines from Butterfly Gala were stamped in Momento Black ink & I used my Stampin’ Blends to colour them in (colours will be in the Supply List). I punched them out with the coordinating Butterfly Duet Punch & added them to my card front with dimensionals.

I stamped, die cut and popped up one of the sentiments from the same set and to add a little shimmer went over all the butterflies with Clear Wink of Stella – it’s so pretty in person 🥰

To finish off the inside I added the same layers as the front with another flower & more butterflies in one corner. I haven’t added a sentiment to keep this card suitable for a variety of occasions and can always add one later if I want too.

Card Cuts:

A4 Cardstock (8.25″ x 11.75″)
* Base: 8.25″ x 8″ (Score @ 4″)
* Layer 1:  8″ x 3.75″
* Layer 2: 7.75″ x 3.5″

Letter Cardstock (8.5″ x 11″)
* Base: 8.5″ x 7″ (Score @ 3.5″)
* Layer 1: 8.25″ x 3.25″
* Layer 2: 8″ x 3″

I really like how this card turned out and can see them becoming a regular style for me. I like how they can take more decoration and there’s lots of room to write, but you can only make one from a sheet of cardstock so they’re not as economical as the standard size – but still cheaper than a card from the shops 😉

Cheers,
Karen
