Dressed To Impress

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson |Dressed To Impress

Hi everyone🖐   Today I have a bright & cheerful card to share with you using the Dressed To Impress stamp set from the 2020-21 Annual Catalogue and the paper piecing technique – which I haven’t used for such a long time.

Little Paper Party, Dressed To Impress, Make A Difference, 1
I used paper piecing to add colour & pattern to my sets of shoes, this is a really easy technique & a great way to use up your smaller pieces of DSP 🙂

To start with, I stamped my shoe outlines onto Whisper White cardstock & die cut them with the coordinating die from the All Dressed Up dies (I preferred to adhere the coloured piece after die cutting, but you could do it beforehand).

I stamped the shoe image again onto scraps of Playing With Patterns DSP and trimmed around a section of the shoe with Paper Snips along the stamped outline. (TIP: Make sure to cut right on the line for this). I then went over the cut edges with my Basic Black Marker, this covers the white core of the paper & helps disguise any uneven cutting.

I adhered my fussy cut shoes onto the white cardstock ones with Tombow to create a multicoloured look and that’s how I made several pairs of brightly patterned shoes. TIP: The stamped lines on the white base will disguise any uneven trimming on the coloured piece as well.

I trimmed another piece of Playing With Patterns DSP with a stitched rectangle to create the background and added a sentiment using the Stamparatus.

To help my shoes stand out even more, I stamped one of the background images from Dressed To Impress in Crushed Curry ink onto Whisper White cardstock using 1st & 2nd generation stamping. I die cut squares using the 2nd smallest square from the Stitched Shapes Dies and added a pair of shoes to each one, popping the front one up for a little dimension.

To add a little humour to my card I stamped the word “ALL” using the Make A Difference stamp set, trimmed it down, adhered it underneath the sentiment & added the caret with my Basic Black Marker to finish it off.

I kept the inside simple and just added a die cut layer and another pair of shoes for a pop of colour. I think this would make a great birthday card, but by leaving off a sentiment I can use it for other occasions as well.

This was such a fun card to make, I had to restrain myself from making too many shoes 😁  I really like word added to the main sentiment as well, I’m sure we all know someone who loves their shoes & can never have enough.

Cheers,
Karen
