Happy B*Day

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Happy B*Day

Hi everyone 🖐 Today I have a fun, bright birthday card to share with you made using the amazing Playing With Patterns Suite.

The inspiration for today’s card comes straight from the 2020-21 Annual Catalogue. I 💖💖💖 the box top on p100 and thought it would make a perfect card, so I’ve recreated it for my son’s birthday, a bright & cheerful card to take us into Spring 😊

I used the Pattern Play stamp set, Calypso Coral & Coastal Cabana ink to create the fun background. They were quite easy to join up as this is a photopolymer stamp set and to keep my lines reasonably straight I drew some light pencil lines which I rubbed out after my ink was dry.

The frame was die cut from some Playing With Patterns DSP & I used the 3rd & 4th largest rectangles from the Rectangle Stitched Dies to get the size I wanted – I love that these add stitching to both sides of the die cut, it’s such a nice effect.

The strips were cut from another pattern in the same DSP pack and I simply cut them between the stripe pattern and trimmed them to 3-1/2″ long. After I’d arranged them how I liked I added a few dots of Tombow to keep them in place and then adhered this entire element to my card front.

The letters were die cut from Coastal Cabana cardstock using the Playful Alphabet Dies & I die cut them again with the Foam Adhesive Sheets to add dimension. After I’d put the letters together I lined them up, used a T-ruler to keep them straight & adhered them in place.

The final touch were a few Playing with Patterns Resin Dots, normally I love shine & sparkle, but I’m really enjoying these matte ones at the moment.

I kept the inside simple and just added a sentiment from the Pattern Play stamp set with a little border detail underneath, still lots of room to write a message 😁

I’ve been really attracted to stacks of the samples in this year’s catalogue and you’ll probably see more takes on them as the year progresses, they’re such a great source of inspiration.

Cheers,
Karen
