Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Masculine Monday – Sailing Home
I was very happy to see the Sailing Home stamp set carry over into this year’s 2020-21 Annual Catalogue, especially as this is one of my go-to sets that is perfect for masculine cards – I never seem to have enough of those 🙂
Today’s project using this classic set is a clean & simple (CAS) one and I played along with the AAA Cards #171 challenge for the theme & layout as well as the Color Throwdown CTD605 for the colour combination.
For the focal images on my card I stamped the boats and light house from Sailing Home onto Whisper White cardstock, coloured them in using Calypso Coral, Cherry Cobbler & Night of Navy Blends and die cut them out with the coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies.
The waves were die cut from Night of Navy, Misty Moonlight & Seaside Spray cardstock using the Ocean Waves Borders (Lawn Fawn). I added a sentiment from Well Said using the Stamparatus and layered these elements on my card front to create a simple scene.
The front boat has a dimensional behind the top of the sail which adds a little extra texture to my card front and the gulls above the lighthouse were the perfect finishing touch 🙂
I added a simple stitched layer to the inside with a little nautical stamping in one corner to tie it in with the front. I haven’t added a sentiment as I think this card could be suitable for lots of different occasions, retirement, a career change, travel, leaving school/uni… were just a few that sprang to mind.
This was such a fun card to work on and you could definitely add a lot more to the design, but clean & simple was one of the parameters and I thought I restrained myself very well, this time 😉
