Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Valentine’s Day – A Special Someone
I have one last Valentine’s Day themed card to share with you today, using the super cute Special Someone stamp set (from the 2020 Mini Catalogue) and the coordinating Special Days Dies – which are now available, yay!
Aside from the little animals in the Someone Special set being so sweet, I like that Stampin’ Up! has catered for those who aren’t into colouring as much by making this a two-step stamp set. These types of sets really speed up the making time by “colouring” the outline image with a solid stamp in just one go 🙂
I chose greys for the animals and a rainbow of heart shaped balloons for bright bursts of colour. The Special Day Dies made cutting these images out quick & easy and I really appreciated the extra dies included to “accessorise” the main elements – I used the three strand balloon strings & bows.
I really wanted my animals to hold their balloons so carefully cut some slits with a craft knife to allow the strings to pass through and then decided the racoon needed a card to go with his gift so made a faux envelope from a scrap of cardstock and stamped the tiny heart from A Big Thank You on the flap – it was the perfect size 🙂
I created a very simple background for my animal friends and used Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink to blend a simple sky and die cut some grassy hills from the Pleased As Punch DSP using the Grassy Hillside Borders (Lawn Fawn).
I adhered the grass to my sky background and stamped a sentiment from Someone Special using my Stamparatus in one corner. I then adhered this panel to a Thick Whisper White card base and glued my little figures in place and decided to keep all the elements, except two balloons, flat to make it suitable to post in a standard envelope.
To finish off the inside I added two more stamped and die cut balloons for a pop of colour and to tie in with the card front. I haven’t added a sentiment yet, because even though there are lots of hearts this isn’t Valentine’s Day specific card and this way I can customise it for whatever occasion I use it for 🙂
I’m really enjoying playing with the Special Someone stamp set, I think it’s pretty versatile and has some nice sentiments. I would highly recommend adding the Special Day Dies to go with it as well, it makes cutting all those images out a breeze and the extra dies are great for scene building 🙂
Cheers,
Karen
