Valentine’s Day – 3D, no dies!

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | 3D, no dies!

Today I have a quick & easy, last-minute Valentine’s Day project to share with you using the From My Heart Suite (2020 Mini Catalogue) and Gusseted Cellophane Bags (2019-20 Annual Catalogue).

I set myself the truly difficult challenge 😉 not to use any dies for this project – even though I ♥♥♥ them and have used a couple of punches instead, but you could easily just use scissors for these simple shapes 🙂

Stampin’ Up! has a few ready-to-go packaging ideas which are great to have on hand for quick & easy gift giving and I’m using the Gusseted Cellophane Bags from the Annual Catalogue today, which are one of my favourites.

I created a simple liner to go inside the bag to give it a little structure and used a few pieces of the From My Heart DSP to add some pattern & colour – directions will be below. The liner extends outside the bag and forms the topper as well and I will use either glue dots or a staple to keep it closed – depending on the contents.

I’ve kept the embellishment simple and used one of the pretty Heart Doilies as the base and then added a punched heart from one of the foiled patterns in the From My Heart DSP – popped up with dimensionals and a sweet bow of the Double-Stitched Satin Ribbon adds some lovely shine and texture.

The image/sentiment on the tag are from Heartfelt and I stamped them in Poppy Parade ink onto Whisper White cardstock punched out with the Everyday Label Punch. I trimmed this down with scissors and adhered this to the back of my heart embellishment and then glued this to the topper with Tombow.

Here’s the How To:

Finished Dimensions: 2-3/4″ x  4-3/4″ x 2″ (7 x 12 x 5cm)

Cardstock: 2-3/4″ x 8-1/2″
DSP: 7/8″ x 2-5/8″, 4-5/8 x 2-5/8″, 5/8″ x 2-5/8″

  • Score the cardstock @ 1″, 3″ and 7-3/4″ (on landscape side)
  • Fold and burnish the score lines
  • Adhere the DSP pieces to the corresponding sections, making sure the direction is correct
  • Open and flatten out the base of the gusseted bag and insert the cardstock insert
  • Apply Tear & Tape to the base seam and adhere this flat (optional – however, this will help the bag sit flat)
  • Insert your goodies
  • Fold the 3/4″ flap to the outside of the bag and close using preferred method
  • Decorate as desired

I really like today’s project, it’s quick & easy, doesn’t use much paper or cardstock and is a great way to make a little gift look really special. I’ll be using the Heart Foil Tins for a little gift for my boys this year, but these little bags came a very close second 🙂

Cheers,
Karen
