Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Valentine’s Day – For the guys
With the end of January just around the corner, Valentine’s Day isn’t far away and today I have a quick & easy card and treat idea to share with you that will be perfect for those special guys.
The main element of my card and treat box is this gold & black sheet from the Golden Honey DSP (a FREE Sale-A-Bration item). I think this strong geometric pattern is a great one for masculine projects and love how the gold foil stops it from being too bland.
I’ve kept the embellishment simple and punched a heart from some red glimmer paper (retired) using one of the punches from the Heart Punch Pack and then die cut the word “love” from the centre using the Well Written Dies. As I was adhering it to a black card base I went around the edge with my Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blends Marker to cover the white edge.
TIP: To adhere the centres in the letters of the negative space I tried to keep those pieces in the die after I’d removed the word. I then adhered the glitter heart to a Basic Black cardstock one, placed the die cut word in place and then put dabs of glue into the spaces I wanted to fill. I then placed the die over the word and used my piercing tool to pop them into the right spot. I placed a block onto the word for a while to help them adhere and then carefully removed word.
The last little bit of bling was a strip of mini gold sequin trim (retired) that I adhered to the heart with Glue Dots and then I popped this element up on the front of the card with Black Dimensionals.
For the inside I added a Whisper White layer, die cut with a rectangle from my stash and used a stitched heart from the Be Mine Stitched Dies to add a little detail in one corner. The sentiment is from More Essential Sentiments (MFT) and I used my Stamparatus to stamp it several times for a crisp, dark image.
The treat holder is one of the sweet Heart Foil Tins from the 2020 Mini Catalogue and I decorated it the same way as the card, but in reverse to make a matching set. It needed just a little more sparkle so I added two extra glitter hearts from the Well Written Dies.
I attached this element to the lid with Glue Dots and decided to cover up the back with trimmed Heart Doily and added a sentiment from Meant To Be as a little surprise.
TIP: To cut the heart to fit the lid of the tin, I traced around the outside of one of the Heart Doilies and then fussy cut this out, as the doilies have a scalloped edge I had to trim this a few times for a good fit, but this is an easy way to create an insert out of your preferred cardstock or DSP 🙂
I really like how these set turned out and as this one will be for my husband hope he does as well – I’m sure he’ll appreciate the yummies in the tin at least 😉
Cheers,
Karen
