Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Happy New Year from a Special Someone
I know our New Year has been & gone, but soon will be another one, the Lunar New Year where we farewell the Year of the Pig and welcome in the Year of the Rat. To celebrate, I have a sweet card to share with you featuring a little star from the Special Someone stamp set 🙂
This little guy from the Special Someone stamp set is pretty small and I was debating for a long time how to use him so he wouldn’t get lost on the card, once again, Pinterest came to my rescue and I was inspired by this image to get the look I was after.
I really loved the soft background in this image and decided to recreate it using the hydrangea image from Beautiful Friendship using Rococo Rose ink and 3rd & 4th generation stamping.
The tree branches were die cut using the Seasonal Layers dies and I added lots of flowers using the Special Day Dies (available Feb. 4, 2020) – I chose these flowers as the size was a better proportion for the rest of my images. I wanted the flowers to have centres and used a 1/8″ punch (retired) to punch these out of Mango Melody cardstock and then used liquid glue to attach them.
The lanterns are from Power Of Hope (Sale-A-Bration) and I used my Stampin’ Blends Markers to colour them and fussy cut them out with my Paper Snips. I attached these and the flowers to the branches and then popped this element up with dimensionals.
The main images in Special Someone are two-step stamps and I stamped the outline in Early Espresso and the colour in Crumb Cake ink. This left his tummy & snout bare so I added a little colour with a Light Crumb Cake Blend and a dab of Light Smoky Slate for his nose.
The sentiment is from Yeti or Not (Lawn Fawn) and was the perfect size for this project, I stamped it onto some Poppy Parade cardstock in Early Espresso and die cut it out with a die from my stash. My little rat was attached to the top and I popped this element up with dimensionals as well.
After spending so much time on the outside I wanted the inside to be just as pretty, so I added another branch and lantern with more flowers and the same background stamping as the front. I really like how this turned out and there’s still plenty of room to write a message 🙂
While this card isn’t difficult there are quite a few fiddly parts, but I’m so glad I persevered because I think it’s my favourite card so far this year. It should have arrived at it’s new home by now and I hope the recipient likes it as much as I do 🙂
Cheers,
Karen
