Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | #simplestamping – The Gang’s All Meer
Stampin’ Up! are continuing the #simplestamping challenge this year and this month’s challenge includes using a Sale-A-Bration stamp set. I’m using the super cute The Gang’s All Meer for my project – I just can’t pass up the “punny” animals sets 🙂
The Gang’s All Meer is a stamp set you can choose for FREE with a $90AUD purchase (before shipping & handling) and is just one of the free goodies you can choose from. If you’d like to know more about Sale-A-Bration, all the details are here.
I decided to use a favourite combo of Watercolor Pencils and Crumb Cake cardstock to create my card and started by stamping the cactus image and a few lizards onto a side folding card base in Basic Grey ink.
I coloured them in using the Garden Green & Melon Mambo pencils and added a little Whisper White to the eyes of the lizards to make them standout from the background.
I used my Stamparatus to stamp the meerkats and sentiment onto a 1/4 sheet of Crumb Cake, which gave me the chance to make sure everything was straight and centred before I committed to the cardstock. The sentiments are both from The Gang’s All Meer stamp set and I used some washi tape to mask off part of the Happy Birthday stamp to get just the words I wanted.
Those cheeky meerkats were coloured with the Basic Grey pencil and I added some rosy cheeks, a little white to their eyes and used Early Espresso to add a little definition to the ground under their feet. I trimmed this panel down, added a mat of Garden Green cardstock behind and popped it up on the front of my card with dimensionals to finish off this simple design.
I wanted a little something on the inside as well, so stamped another cactus & lizard in one corner and coloured them to coordinate with the front of my card. I think this little touch adds a nice pop of colour to the inside and stops it looking too bland.
As I was colouring this image I was thinking it could nearly be a family portrait, my husband with a big cheesy grin, our two older sons trying to look innocent – and failing, myself – hand on hip and our youngest son – actually innocent. Now I can’t get the idea out of my head and have a giggle every time I see them – I think I might need to get out more 🙂
Cheers,
Karen
