Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Australia Day Fun – Part 3
Hi everyone, I’m back again with my third Australia Day project – only one more after this one, I promise and it’s another quick and easy one, really fast this time and perfect for a simple favour to hand out to the kids, big & small 😉
Today I have a treat holder to share with you, that will hold none other than … drumroll please… a Caramello Koala. I really couldn’t help myself, I just had to, I mean how often do you get to pair a koala stamp with a koala chocolate in time for Australia Day? 🙂
Anywhoo… these are so easy to make and only use a 8-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ piece of cardstock (for the base) and a 6″ x 2-1/2″ strip of DSP (for the cover) which means you can make five bases from one A4 sheet of cardstock (Imperial can make four) and 8 covers from one 12″ x 12″ sheet of DSP and then use the offcuts to decorate.
I used the Bonanza Buddies Bundle and Birthday Bonanza DSP to decorate my holders and kept it very simple to keep the assembly time down, just a couple of die cut banners and those cheeky koalas popped up with dimensionals for a little extra interest.
The sentiments are from Aussie Animals (My Favorite Things) and I stamped, trimmed and popped them up as well. If you were after a similar look you could use an alphabet stamp set to create your own or use any other small sentiment instead, they’ll look just as sweet.
I wanted to add a little sparkle to my treat holders so dug through my stash and found some Twinkle Adhesive Stars (retired) which were the perfect size. Of course, you could use anything you’d like on these, I just wanted stars, but be careful if you’re planning to hand them out to little ones.
Here’s the How To:
Finished Size: 3-7/8″ x 2-1/4″ x 1/2″
Cardstock: 8-1/4″ x 2-1/4″
DSP: 6″ x 2-1/2″
Ribbon: 12-1/2″
- Score the cardstock strip @ 3-7/8″ & 4-3/8″ (on the 8-1/4″ side)
- Score the DSP @ 2″, 2-1/2″, 4-3/4″ & 5-1/4″ (on the 6″ side)
- Fold & burnish all score lines
- Tie the ribbon around the treat and place inside holder and then wrap the DSP around and adhere at the back (I used Tear & Tape)
- Decorate as desired
When I started this series using this sweet koala image I knew I just had to make a treat holder for a Caramello Koala. These are a particularly sweet chocolate and while not one of my favourites, my boys seem to have no problem consuming them. If they’re not one of yours either or aren’t available where you live a Giant Freddo will fit and I’m sure there are plenty of other goodies that would fit as well.
Cheers,
Karen
