Australia Day Fun – Part 2

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Australia Day Fun – Part 2

Today I have another quick and easy project to share with you using the Birthday Bonanza Suite in the 2020 Mini Catalogue. Once again I’m CASEing (Copy & Share Everything) a project from the catalogue, the cute cupcake picks (on page 32) and I added a larger cake pick as well to round them out 🙂

Little Paper Party, Birthday Bonanza Suite, Australia Day - Part 2, 1

Cupcake picks are a very simple project and if you’re handy with a glue gun – which I am not 😉 come together really quickly once you have all the elements ready to go.

I used the Birthday Bonanza DSP and Starburst Punch as the background and then layered it with a piece of coordinating cardstock punched with a 1-3/4″ circle punch (retired – you could use the Layering Circle Dies instead to get the right size) to add strength & create a background for my image.

After I’d adhered my skewer – this is where the hot glue comes in handy, I tidied up the back with a 2″ circle that I adhered with dimensionals – to allow for the skewer, this step is optional, I just like the back to look neat as well 🙂

I created the cake pick the same way and added a few stars die cut using the Stitched Stars Dies and threaded along some Whisper White Baker’s Twine. The trickiest part was getting my koalas to hold the twine, but a good glue (I used Ranger’s Multi Medium Matte – non SU) and a pair of reverse tweezers helped with that.

My sweet koalas were stamped & die cut using the Bonanza Buddies Bundle and this time I added the party hat with one of the tiny pompoms to dress them up. I popped them up on my picks with dimensionals and now they’re ready to dress up a cake, lamington, pavlova or maybe even a meat pie if you’re so inclined 😉

I think a whole colony of these little guys would look so sweet dressing up your celebration and if you didn’t want picks they could be on place settings, food labels or nestled in a eucalyptus display on the table. I’m looking forward to using these cuties for our own celebration and may have to make a few more before the big day.

Cheers,
Karen
