Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | #simplestamping – Stargazing

I’m squeezing in my take on this month’s #simplestamping challenge just in the nick of time and using the Stargazing stamp set from the 2019-20 Annual Catalogue to create some quick and easy thank you cards.

This month’s challenge was to create simple thank you cards using stamps, ink, paper & punches, I mixed up this last element a little when I was creating my cards, but you could easily substitute the little embellishments I added with punched ones instead 🙂

To create my starry background I stamped the swirly star image from Stargazing over a 1/4 sheet of A4 Whisper White cardstock using Highland Heather ink. I used a second generation of stamping to create my background as it was too dark in full strength and decided to create two cards with this background so cut my 1/4 sheet down to two 7.4 x 10.5cm pieces.

I stamped a sentiment from the same set in Pretty Peacock and then layered my Whisper White panels onto some Pretty Peacock cardstock, 1/2cm larger all round.

I added my cardstock layers to a piece of Follow Your Art DSP which I’d adhered to a Thick Whisper White card base and then added two of the felt stars from the Follow Your Art Embellishment Kit to balance out the bigger gap at the bottom and add some extra texture to this simple design.

I added similar layers to finish off the inside and used another image to create a simple pattern on the top and bottom.

Card Cuts:

Whisper White: 10.5 x 7.4cm
Pretty Peacock: 11.0 x 7.9cm
DSP: 10.0 x 14.9cm
Card Base: 10.5 x 14.9cm (when folded)

Whisper White: 8.0 x 12.4cm
Pretty Peacock: 10.0 x 14.4cm

I really enjoyed creating these cards, the colour combination of Coastal Cabana, Highland Heather, Pretty Peacock with a hint of Calypso Coral was a different one for me and I was surprised with how well these colours worked together 🙂 Of course, colour preferences are such a personal thing so if this colour palette isn’t your cup of tea, pick one of your favourites it will look just as nice.
