Festive Friday

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Festive Friday

Yay! Friday’s here and it’s time for some festive fun 🙂 Today I have a bright and cheery card to share with you made using one of my favourite stamp sets in this year’s holiday catalogue, Christmas Crowd.

I have to admit I was on the fence about buying this set as I didn’t know how I could change up the image to get more out of it, but the fun sentiments tipped me over the edge and I’ve set myself a goal to create five different projects with this set, so let’s start with #1.

Little Paper Party, Christmas Crowd, Birch, 1

The main image in this set is a big one and perfect for colouring. I used my Stamparatus to stamp it onto a 1/4 sheet of Whisper White cardstock and then enjoyed colouring in all the characters in with my Stampin’ Blends Markers (colours used will be in the Supply List).

After I’d finished colouring I used a white pen (Gelly Roll 10 – non SU) to add some highlights and used the new Snowfall Accents Puff Paint to add some details to the trim on Santa’s hat & coat and the snowman’s hat.

This was my first time using it on a project and I was so nervous I’d muck up all my hard work. I had practiced on some scraps beforehand though and while it’s not perfect it adds a lovely texture to my scene.

The background for this card was a happy accident, I had some extra backgrounds from a previous project and just happened to put my coloured panel on top of one of them. I loved how the Birch background in Grey Granite looked and used a die from my stash to trim down both panels and then fussy cut my focal image to pop up on top.

I layered this onto a die cut Grey Granite panel and then a side folding Thick Whisper White card base.

I stamped one of the sentiments from Christmas Crowd onto a scrap of Whisper White and cut it out with a die in my stash (Speech Bubbles by Lawn Fawn) and popped this up with dimensionals as well.

I like to finish off the insides of my cards as well, so added the same die cut layers as the front and used my Stamapratus to add a sentiment. A couple of sparkles either side dresses it up and that finished off my first card made with this fun set 🙂

I really like how today’s project turned out, all the white and grey made a lovely backdrop for my colourful characters without competing with them, but was just enough to stop my card from being to blah, at least in my mind anyway 😉

Cheers,
Karen
