Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | 12 Weeks of Halloween – Week 7
This week I have an simple project to share with you using the Mini Pizza Boxes (from the 2019-20 Annual Catalogue). While I love making my own bags & boxes from scratch, sometimes it’s nice to grab something pre-made and just add a little decoration for quick & easy gift giving.
I usually have a stock of pre-made bags & boxes on hand and Stampin’ Up! offer a variety of sizes & styles. One thing I like is that many of them are food safe – like the pizza boxes, which is great if you like to gift yummies 🙂
I wanted to add a little decoration to the basic Mini Pizza Box so decided to stamp the spider web from Wonderfully Wicked in Momento Black ink to create a simple background and dress up the plain bottom & sides.
I then adhered a small circle punched with the 1/2″ Circle Punch to cover the tab and a 3-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ piece if Basic Black cardstock with a 3″ x 3-1/8″ piece of 2019-2021 In Color DSP that I’d embossed with the Corrugated TIEF on top. However, the embossing didn’t show up as much as I thought it would so I don’t know that I would do it again or maybe I just need to try a different pattern.
I stamped a few bats from the Wonderfully Wicked stamp set onto Mango Melody cardstock and die cut this out with the Stitched Shapes Dies to create a spooky moon and give me a place to adhere the large die cut word.
The word “wicked” is from the Wicked Dies and I die cut it three times, once in Terracotta Tile and twice from Basic Black cardstock. I wanted the extra layers to give it some extra strength as it hangs off the edges a little and I offset the Terracotta Tile from the black to create a shadow which really makes it pop against the background.
I tied a length of Scalloped Edge Ribbon around my box to make sure it stayed closed and popped my moon and word up over the top with dimensionals. I stamped and fussy cut some coordinating words from the Wonderfully Wicked stamp set to complete my sentiment and added two Black Foil Spiders for a little shine.
The final embellishment to this crazy design were two eyes from the Assorted Googly Eyes, they added just the right amount of extra creepy to my project and were the perfect size for the dot on the “i” and the tab of my box 🙂
I quite like going a little overboard with my decoration on Halloween projects, it’s such a forgiving holiday with some pretty crazy colour combinations anyway so I think some creative licence is more than ok 😉
Cheers,
Karen
