Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Buffalo Check Birthday
Good morning everyone! It’s the start to a brand new week and here in Brisbane, Spring has definitely arrived – swooping magpies and all 😦 One lovely part of Spring however, is all the flowers starting to blossom, so to celebrate that, I have a card to share with you made using a gorgeous floral set, Beautiful Friendship.
I’m playing along with this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge, CTD559 for the colours in my project – navy, mustard, coral & cream and was not only inspired by this week’s colour selection, but also by the pretty bouquet in the inspiration image.
I decided to use the Buffalo Check stamp to create a fun background for my flowers and used my Stamparatus to stamp it several times in Night of Navy ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock to get the depth of colour I wanted.
I die cut this down using a die in my stash and then adhered it to a Thick Very Vanilla card base.
The flowers from Beautiful Friendship were stamped in Calypso Coral & Crushed Curry and I added a few Garden Green leaves to fill out my arrangement. I used the Stamparatus again, so I could stamp each image twice and then fussy cut them out with my Paper Snips.
After I’d arranged them how I liked, I adhered all of them to the card front with Tombow except the front flower which I popped up with dimesionals to add some extra depth.
The sentiment is from a stamp in my stash (MFT Essential Sentiments) and I stamped this in Calypso Coral and die cut it out using the Rectangle Stitched Dies. I popped this up as well and for a finishing touch adhered a few glitter epoxy shapes (retired) to add a little sparkle.
To dress up the inside a I added another die cut layer stamped with a single hydrangea and a few leaves in one corner. The rest of the inside is blank, so there’s lots of room for a message or I could add another sentiment later on if I don’t have much to say 😉
This challenge was an unusual colour combination for me, but I really like how all the elements on this card came together and am so glad I played along. I think my favourite part is the background, this is the best coverage I’ve had of the Buffalo Check so far and I’ll definitely be using it with the Stamparatus from now on.
Cheers,
Karen
