12 Weeks of Halloween 2019 | Week 4

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | 12 Weeks of Halloween 2019 – Week 4

This week I have a more grown-up looking treat box to share with you made using a basic 2,4,6,8 pattern and the Wonderfully Wicked stamp set coming in the 2019 Holiday Catalogue (available September 4, 2019).

I’ve made this style of box many times before, but usually either really big or teeny tiny, so to change it up a little I’ve made a medium size this time. The finished size is 4″ x 2″ x 2″, so it’s perfect for lots of goodies or larger ones, but not too big to cost a lot to fill 🙂

I really liked the images in the Wonderfully Wicked (available September 4, 2019) stamp set and decided to use the creepy spider web to add Halloween-y vibe to my plain box. After I’d cut my cardstock to 8-1/4″ x 9″ (those with 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock can leave it at 8-1/2″), but before scoring, I stamped and heat embossed the web in Silver Embossing Powder to create a simple background.

I then scored, trimmed and assembled my box and love the look of this fun web pattern all over. I decided to add two of the spiders to live in my webs and stamped, heat embossed, fussy cut & popped them up for a little dimension.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set and I used my Stamparatus and a Basic Black Marker to stamp the words I wanted onto a piece of the Monster Bash DSP (available September 4, 2019). This way I could build up the intensity of colour with repeat stamping to really help it stand out against the DSP pattern.

I punched out the sentiment using the 2″ Circle Punch and layered it onto some Silver Foil punched with the Starburst Punch. I then stamped, heat embossed & fussy cut the large “wicked” and popped it up in the middle to complete the sentiment.

Here’s the How To:

Finished Size: 4″ x 2″ x 2″
Cardstock: 8-1/4″ x 9″

  • Stamp & emboss the card base before scoring
  • Score @ 2″, 4″, 6″ & 8″ (on the 8-1/4″ side)
  • Turn 90°
  • Score @ 1/2″, 2-1/2″, 6-1/2″ & 8-1/2″ (on the 9″ side)
  • With the 1/4″ tab to the right, trim as per the diagram
  • Round the corners of the lids & flaps
  • Apply Tear n’ Tape to the 1/4″ tab & assemble box
  • Use 1″ Circle Punch to add thumb notch (optional)
  • Decorate as desired

I have to admit I originally wasn’t going to get this stamp set, but definitely wanted the Wicked Dies that it can be bundled with. I rarely buy dies by themselves if there’s a coordinating stamp set so decided to get both and am so glad I did or I wouldn’t have been able to make today’s totally “wicked” project 😉

Cheers,
Karen
