Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson |A Good Man
With Father’s Day fast approaching here in Australia, I thought I’d better get a move on and make a card or two for our own special guy and what better set to use than A Good Man from the 2019-20 Annual Catalogue?
I love everything about this set, the images remind me of my own husband so much – especially the one in the deck chair 😉 and the sentiments are great, many versatile enough to work with loads of other stamp sets as well.
I’d actually coloured this image a while ago to create a card for my husband’s birthday, but ran out of time to use this particular one – don’t worry cards were made and given, so I just stored this one safely away until I was ready for it. This is a great idea for when you have extra time or are just in the “zone” to colour a few extra images and save them for later, I need to do it more often.
The image was stamped in Momento Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and coloured with Stampin’ Blends Markers (all the colours will be listed in the Supply List) and I created a very simple background to ground my image.
I like to keep my masculine cards clean and simple, so went for a classic layout with just a strip of Woven Threads DSP behind my image to add some extra colour and texture.
Another detail I like is all the stitching around the edges of my elements, I used the Stitched Shapes Dies for the image & sentiment and a die from my stash for the front panel. It’s subtle, but adds extra interest and stops my card from being too flat.
The final touch is the twine at the base of my card, I just couldn’t leave that huge space empty and after trying different ribbons & trims settled on two strands of Nature’s Twine – in Crumb Cake, tied with simple overhand knots and adhered towards the base of my card. As this is quite a thick twine I decided to use Ranger’s Multi Medium Matte to make sure it really stays on and am very pleased with how secure it is 🙂
To finish off the inside of my card I added a die cut Whisper White panel and stamped another sentiment and image using my Stamparatus in Pretty Peacock ink from the same set.
Although I’m intending this as a Father’s Day card it would be great as a birthday card as well and I might have to make a few more to add to my stash 🙂
I have to admit that this is image is my favourite one in the A Good Man stamp set and love that I can colour it anyway I like to suit the recipient. I think I’ll have to try to make one with a bright Hawaiian shirt with a beach background, if I’m successful I’ll make sure to share it here 🙂
Cheers,
Karen
