Welcome to the first project in this year’s 12 Weeks of Halloween series. I’ll be sharing a Halloween themed project each Wednesday for the next twelve weeks and am so excited to begin. I hope you’ll come back to see what ideas I have this year.

My first project is made using products from the 2019-20 Annual Catalogue while I’m waiting for my pre-order from the 2019 Holiday Catalogue to arrive. This year’s Halloween goodies are simply gorgeous & I’m itching to get my hands on them 🙂 If you’d like to see what Stampin’ Up! has on offer this year just let me know here and I’ll pop a catalogue in the post for you as soon as they arrive.

This week’s project is a simple matchbox style box and I can’t believe I’ve never made one of these before, they are super easy to make! The finished dimensions are 4-1/4″ x 2-1/2″ x 3/4″ so it’s a pretty large one and will hold quite a few small treats.

The main suite in this year’s Holiday Catalogue has a  lovely vintage feel and I wanted my first project to coordinate with it as much as possible, so was pleased to find this pattern in the Come Sail Away DSP pack that fitted the bill perfectly 🙂

I didn’t want to cover up the main paper too much so kept the rest of the embellishment pretty simple. I created a rosette using another pattern from the same DSP pack and adhered a few strands of thread from the Burlap Ribbon behind to add a some texture.

I die cut a lacy border using a one of the Arts & Crafts Dies from Basic Black cardstock and adhered a piece to either end. The final touch was a silver, heat embossed sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings with two large rhinestones to add the necessary sparkle 😉

Here’s the How To:

Finished Dimensions: 4-1/4″ x 2-1/2″ x 3/4″

Cardstock: 4-1/4″ x 7″ (outer sleeve)
Score @ 3/4″, 3-1/4″, 4″ & 6-1/2″ (on 7″ side)

Cardstock: 5″ x 6-3/4″ (inner drawer – cut 1/16″ off the 5″ side to ensure an easy fit)
Score @ 1/2″ & 1-1/4″ (on all 4 sides)

DSP: 2-3/8″ x 4-1/8″ (x2) (outer sleeve, top & bottom)
5/8″ x 4-1/8″ (x2) (outer sleeve, sides)
5/8″ x 2-3/8″ (x2) (inner drawer, ends)

Rosette (optional): 1/2″ x 10″ (score every 1/4″)

I was so happy with how my first project turned out, it looks even better than I’d originally imagined 🙂 These would make fun gifts for co-workers or the adults in your family and as you can make the outer sleeve, inner drawer, trim & banner from one sheet of A4 cardstock they’re reasonably inexpensive as well.
