Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Stargazing
Today I have a project to share with you made using another *new* stamp set, Stargazing. This set has some lovely background images and sentiments that will coordinate beautifully with the Little Twinkle set that carried over from the 2018-19 Annual Catalogue.
I didn’t really have a plan for this card, it just kind of evolved as I was creating and is quite different to what I usually make, but it’s good to get out of your comfort zone from time to time and I was very happy with the end result 🙂
I wanted to see how the images would look stamped in Whisper White ink – this is a craft ink and dries to a soft, chalk look which I thought would look effective for a night sky. I wanted to add layers to my flat focal panel, so after I’d stamped the moon and star cluster I sprinkled White Embossing Powder on top and set it with my Heat Tool.
TIP: Make sure any previous stamping is completely dry before adding more layers and embossing powder – I used my Heat Tool to speed this up and use your Embossing Buddy to make sure your powder only sticks where you want it to.
I used my Stamparatus to stamp and heat emboss a sentiment from the same set and then used one of the Rectangle Stitched Dies to cut it down to a smaller panel. As I was in a monochromatic mindset by now, I decided to use a Basic Black card base and thought I’d use some white glimmer paper to separate my focal panel from the card base and add a little more sparkle to my card.
I wanted to offset the focal panel on my card base and stamped one of the images from Winter Woods to fill in some of the large blank space on one side. I thought these simple leafless trees suited my frosty scene and reminded me of how clear the sky tends to be on winter nights – perfect for star watching.
I needed just a little something extra to finish off my card front so adhered an iridescent sequin from the Metallics Sequin Assortment (retired) to each star, which added just the right amount of sparkle – I love how they look under lights 🙂
To finish off the inside of my card I die cut a Whisper White panel using the same Rectangle Stitched Die and stamped the star cluster twice around one edge using Versafine Onyx Black ink (non SU). You can really see the textured detail of the stamp in this solid colour, which all the images in this stamp set have.
Quite a different card from me today, but very lovely with all the shimmer & shine from the sequins, glimmer paper and heat embossing. This is only my first play with this set and I’m looking forward to experimenting with it more & finding other stamps to use it with.
Cheers,
Karen
