Sailing Home

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Sailing Home

Well, wasn’t last week exciting, with the end of two catalogues and the start of a new one! It was obviously too much for me to handle as I didn’t manage to share one post with you 😉 but I’m back today with a simple card made using the *new* Sailing Home Bundle.

This bundle was on the pre-order and there are already loads of great ideas out there so I thought I play along with a couple of challenges to see if I couldn’t come up with something new. I’m using the colour combo from Color Throwdown #546 (CTD546) for my colour palette and the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #391 (FMS391) for the design.

To create the focal image for my card I die cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with a die from the Rectangle Stitched Dies and stamped the two smaller sailboats for Sailing Home on either side.

I stamped the larger boat on a scrap and coloured them all in with Light & Dark Calypso Coral, Light & Dark Pool Party, Light & Dark Crumb Cake and Light Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends Markers.

Before I started popping up elements on my card front I used my Stamparatus to stamp a sentiment in the bottom right corner of a Thick Very Vanilla card base.

I liked how the water from the central boat “overflowed ” onto the card so decided to repeat that with the birds in the top right corner then adhered the boat panel to a Coastal Cabana one with dimensionals and added the central boat with dimensionals as well to add even more texture & interest to this simple card.

I had to add just a tiny bit of bling to finish off my card and coloured three rhinestones with my Dark Pool Party Blends Marker and placed them around the sentiment.

To finish off the inside of my card I added two more cardstock layers with a little extra stamping in just one corner. I don’t usually add sentiments inside as I think it makes my cards more versatile and I can customise them easily for the recipient & occasion.

This was my very first play with the Sailing Home Bundle and I have to say that I really, really like it 🙂 I love the classic imagery of the stamps and the fun “extra” dies that can be used to embellish your projects. I’m looking forward to playing with the coordinating Come Sail Away DSP as well and can see that being used for lots of projects in the coming year.

Cheers,
Karen

  1. Wow! What a beauty! I absolutely love the color you used on these sailing boats. I would have had a hard time not leaving the sails white; the look magnificent in the colors! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!

  3. This is absolutely gorgeous! I love the dimension and how you carried it off the panel. I would never have thought to do sailboats with those colors – but it is wonderful! Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
