Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | May Paper Pumpkin – Alternative 2
Today I have a few more alternative card designs to share with you made using the Hugs From Shelli Paper Pumpkin Kit. This kit is a limited edition and can make 12 gorgeous notecards with everything supplied except a block & scissors.
I was wanting to make some full sized cards using just the kit and a few extra supplies and have already shared a couple of ideas in this post here . I have four more to share today, which will be the final ones I’m sharing on my blog.
One of my favourite cards in the kit was this one with the birds nest on it, I love the vintage style illustration and just knew I had to fussy cut it out and play with it a little more
Before I fussy cut out the nest I coloured the leaves & eggs with Stampin’ Blends in Old Olive & Balmy Blue and used my scoring tool & piercing mat to create some extra dimension on the reverse of the eggs.
I added a few splatters and a sentiment from the kit on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and then adhered my nest with loads of dimensionals – doubled behind the eggs & a tiny twine bow to add some texture.
I adhered all this to a Crumb Cake card base with a little feather detail stamped in two corners.
The back of the original card I trimmed to 8.0 x 12.4cm and stamped the floral image all over to create a background. I used my Watercolor Pencils in Flirty Flamingo, Old Olive & Crushed Curry to colour them in and love the soft effect these pencil give 🙂
I copied the sentiment layout from the original card, just changed up the words & size and adhered this to an Old Olive layer and then a Thick Very Vanilla card base.
My next two cards are very simple designs that are great for using up any small scraps you may have if you’ve already been chopping up your cards and don’t want to waste anything 🙂
My first card uses a 7 x 7cm piece of card front which I’ve layered on a 7.2 x 7.2cm piece of Very Vanilla to add a tiny border. If you don’t have a piece this large left you could simply use a smaller one and have a bigger border or create one using the stamps from the kit.
I added two 3/4″ wide strips of envelope behind the square to a 8.5 12.9cm piece of Pool Party cardstock and cut my strips to make them fit the width I needed. I stamped a sentiment on one of the strips, added a simple embellishment to the square and adhered my card front to a Thick Very Vanilla card base with some more simple stamping in the corners – it’s been my favourite finishing touch 🙂
My final card really uses up those final tiny pieces beautifully 🙂 I cut three strips from an envelope 1 cm wide, the longer ones were cut from the main body of the envelope and the shorter ones from the flap.
I cut a 1.5cm strip of Very Vanilla cardstock for my sentiment, flagged one end and adhered an offcut from another card to add a little interest. I used a tiny piece of twine to add a bow to my sentiment strip which added just a little texture to this super simple card.
I hope you liked these simple ways to change up the cards that came in this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit. Add a little extra cardstock and you can make quite a few more cards than the original 12. I managed to make two full size cards from one kit card & envelope and still have loads of scraps left over to make even more 🙂
Of course, you can make the cards as intended in the kit and that’s what I plan to do with my remaining card bases, they’re simply gorgeous as is and it’s so relaxing to just follow directions and end up with something beautiful 🙂
Cheers,
Karen
