Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Sneak Peek – New Wonders
There are lots of perks to being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, but one of my favourites is being able to order new goodies early 🙂 I received my pre-order at the end of last week and decided to play with one of the *new* Host sets, New Wonder.
Host sets are usually only available with Stampin’ Rewards – after spending $250 before shipping (in Australia), but another perk of the pre-order is being able to buy some of these goodies outright and I just couldn’t pass up this sweet set.
New Wonders has three whimsical fairy images plus several sentiments. I just loved the design of these fairies and decided to use the peeking one on today’s card.
I stamped my fairy onto Whisper White cardstock and coloured her with my Stampin’ Blend Markers. I have a list below of what colours I used if you like this look:
Face: Ivory & Light Petal Pink
Cheeks: Dark Petal Pink
Wing: Light Petal Pink
Hair: Light & Dark Highland Heather
Dress: Light & Dark Bermuda Bay
Background: Light & Dark Balmy Blue
Eyes: Dark Bermuda Bay
The image stamps are quite textured which made figuring out the light & dark areas very easy, I always appreciate that 😉
I also coloured some leaves in Light & Dark Bermuda Bay and then fussy cut everything out using my Paper Snips. I decided not to leave a white border this time and cut close to the stamped outline. After I’d finished, I went over the edges with my Basic Black Marker, this covers the cut white edge & disguises any cutting mistakes, your images look so much better after doing this and it doesn’t take long to do.
I used my Stamparatus to stamp one of the sentiments from New Wonders in Pretty Peacock (one of the *new* 2019-21 In Colors) on the front of a Thick Whisper White card base and added a strip of the *new* 2019-21 In Color DSP & a thin strip of Purple Posy to one side.
I adhered my fairy and five leaves to the front of my card with dimensionals to add a little texture to this simple project.
I used my Stamparatus again to stamp the word “hi” inside my card – to make sure it was straight and added three dots with a Tranquil Tide Marker (retiring) to link the front sentiment with the inside.
I added three more leaves for a little decoration and that finished off my clean & simple card 🙂
I love the imagery in this set and was so pleased to be able to get it a little early, it’s different to any that I’ve seen before. The image stamps have some texture to them – which you can see in some of the photos – I think this adds a lovely depth to them and means much less effort to try to create that myself through colouring 😉
Cheers,
Karen
