Goodbye Wood Words

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Goodbye Wood Words

Today I’m saying goodbye to a couple of favourite stamp sets of mine, Wood Words & Hardwood 😦 These stamps are only available, while stocks last, until June 3, 2019, so if you’d like to add them to your stash don’t wait too long.

For the background of my card I used the Hardwood stamp and my Stamparatus to ensure a good image. Sometimes I can’t tell if all the stamp is fully covered in ink and this way I can easily add extra to any spots that I’ve missed 🙂

I wanted the entire panel to be covered so cut my Crumb Cake panel to 9.5 x 13.9cm and used a little snail – with some of the sticky removed – to keep it in place when stamping, another option is to cut down your panel afterwards, but I prefer this method.

I used Blackberry Bliss, Merry Merlot, Mossy Meadow and Night of Navy to stamp the rooster image onto Crumb Cake cardstock. After I’d die cut them with the coordinating Wood Crate Framelits (retiring) I popped them up on a Stitched Shapes square that I’d run throught the Corrugated embossing folder.

To add little more definition to this element I layered a Merry Merlot scalloped square behind and a small bow of Copper Trim (retiring) at the top.

I die cut one of the sentiments using the Bunch of Banners dies (retiring) and popped it up with dimensionals under the focal image and added a little sparkle with a few black sequins from the Metallic Sequins Assortment (retiring) as a finishing touch.

I used the same layers as the front on the inside of my card and added one last rooster in Mossy Meadow for a simple decoration.

I really like the rustic, country feel of this card and will really miss some of the products used to create it 😦 I think Hardwood is definitely one to add to your stash if you don’t already have it, it’s a versatile background stamp that can have a very different feel depending on what colours you use.

Cheers,
Karen
