Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Bunny Hop 2019 – Goodie Bag
Welcome to the fifth project in this year’s Bunny Hop series. Today I have a larger bag than my previous projects to share with you, made using the Gingham Gala DSP, Best Bunny stamp set and the Gift Bag Punch Board.
I don’t seem to use the Gift Bag Punch Board very often, but it’s perfect for a last-minute gift wrap as all the measurements are already worked out and you just have to punch, score and stick it together 🙂
The Gingham Gala DSP is only 6″ x 6″, so you’ll need 2 pieces for each bag, but as there’s 40 sheets per pack you could make 20 of these! Of course, you can use 12″ x 12″ DSP instead, just cut your paper in half and make the bag following the large directions printed on the Gift Bag Punch Board.
I used the two smallest ovals from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to create the handle and reinforcement. I really like the decorative touch this adds to the bag and the reinforcement makes the opening much sturdier. If you don’t have a Big Shot you could reproduce this with any nesting punches you may have in your stash for the same effect.
I decided to change-up the decoration a little for this project and stamped & coloured the hat from the Best Bunny stamp set and filled it with some brightly coloured eggs punched from the 2018-2020 In Color DSP pack (I used a small oval punch from my stash, but you could use any small oval framelits or balloon punch/framelit you have instead) and added a “chocolate” bunny to mix up the treats a little.
I popped my hat onto a hill, die cut from the Share What You Love DSP – I think I’ve only used this particular sheet for leafy backgrounds 😉 but you could just use plain cardstock instead for a similar look.
The sentiment is from a retired stamp set (Circle of Spring) and I layered it onto the large flower from the Support Ribbon Framelits die cut in the coordinating cardstock. A few of the Gingham Gala Sequins finish off my simple decoration and a bow of Polka Dot Ribbon adds some softness and helps to keep my treats safely inside 🙂
Here’s the How To:
Finished Size: 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″ x 2″
DSP: 6″ x 6″ (x2)
Tool: Gift Bag Punch Board
- Line up one edge of the DSP with the start line, punch & score @ M (Fig.1)
- Move score line to the start line, punch & score @ Side – add gusset (Fig.2)
- Move score line to the start line, punch (Fig.3)
- Repeat above steps for 2nd piece of DSP
- Fold and burnish score lines – except gussets
- Use smallest oval to cut out a handle in the front panels on both pieces
- Use smallest & 2nd smallest oval to cut out reinforcement handles from coordinating cardstock & adhere in place (Fig. 4)
- Trim the seam allowances
- Adhere the bag together with Tear n’ Tape (Fig.5)
- Decorate as desired
I hope you’ll hop back next week to see my final project, I’ll be keeping it quick and easy by using some of the pre-made items Stampin’ Up! has, they only need some simple embellishment and are great for last-minute makes.
Cheers,
Karen
