Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | You… are amazing

Happy Monday everyone! Today I have a fun card to share with you using the Love What You Do stamp set and Thank You Thinlits, well part of them anyway.

I’m playing along with this week’s Colour Throwdown #533 challenge and using Grey, Purple, Lavender and Kraft for my project. I really enjoy colour challenges as I find a set colour palette let’s me think more about the stamps & design and I don’t have to worry if my colours are “right”. Make sure you hop over and check out all the gorgeous inspiration using these lovely colours.

I decided to use Basic Grey, Crumb Cake, Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather & Smoky Slate for my colours, plus a little white.

I stamped the splotchy background from Love What You Do in Crumb Cake, added the flower stems Basic Grey and the flower heads  in Gorgeous Grape – stamped off once, then die cut this out using the largest square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

I layered a piece of Gingham Gala DSP onto some Whisper White and then onto a side folding Smoky Slate card base. A little strip of 7/8″ wide Crumb Cake and some 1/2″ wide scalloped Gorgeous Grape cardstock (punched with a border punch from my stash) added a little more of those colours to my card front.

I die cut the word “thank you” word from the Thank You Thinlits three times, twice in Whisper White and once in Basic Grey, trimmed the “you” off and layered them together with some liquid glue to add some dimension.

I wanted to continue the sentiment to the inside so added three dots punched using the 1/8″ Handheld Circle Punch to let the recipient know.

A few of the Gold Faceted Gems added a little sparkle to my card front & tie in nicely with the rest of the Crumb Cake on my card front 🙂 I don’t use these very often as they’re so thick, but I do like them, so it was great to break them out for a change 🙂

Inside is very simply finished with a few more flowers and part of a sentiment from Amazing Life. I added the dots with a marker and even though they’re not straight I don’t mind – it is handmade after all 😉

The colour combination in this week’s challenge was definitely a little out of my comfort zone, but it’s good to try out new things and I’m pretty pleased with how my card turned out:) I’ll be back on Wednesday with my second project for this year’s Bunny Hop – see you then!
