In the Spotlight – Botanical Butterfly DSP

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | In the Spotlight – Botanical Butterfly DSP

We’re nearly 2/3 of the way through this year’s Sale-A-Bration and I thought I’d better spotlight another one of my favourites – the Botanical Butterfly DSP, before it’s gone for good!

I’m playing along with this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch! #310 challenge for the layout for today’s project. This is such a great clean and simple design, perfect for quick and easy cards, make sure you hop over and check out all the inspiration 🙂

I’ve kept today’s cards super simple and cut two strips of the Botanical Butterfly DSP to 1/2″ & 1″ wide x the width of my card and adhered them towards the bottom of a Basic Black card base to create the stripes in the design.

I used my Stamparatus to stamp one of the sentiments from Butterfly Gala in VersaMark ink, added White Embossing Powder and set that with my Heat Tool.

TIP: Make sure to use your Embossing Buddy before stamping to make sure your embossing powder only sticks where you want it too 🙂

I used the coordinating Butterfly Duet Punch to punch out some of the butterflies, but you could easily fussy cut them and adhered them to a Basic Black one for some extra strength and to finish the back nicely. I added some Mini Dimensionals to the wings and a little Tombow to the bodies and attached them to my cards. This helps to give them a more dimensional look that won’t be flattened in the post 🙂

To finish off the inside I added a Very Vanilla layer and two more butterflies – adhered flat this time. I left the inside blank so there’s plenty of room for a message, but of course you could stamp a sentiment if you wanted too.

I really like how these simple cards turned out and love how the butterflies pop against the black cardstock. A simple change of sentiment & images would make these suitable for lots of different occasions and they don’t use up too much paper which is good if you need to make lots or if you don’t have much left 🙂

Cheers,
Karen
