I know that a lot of people where I live (in Australia) don’t really celebrate Halloween and may not be too keen to invest in stamps they won’t get much use out of – not everyone’s a Halloween fanatic like me 😉 So today’s project uses supplies from the 2018-19 Annual Catalogue to make some fun treat holders with a Halloween twist that could be easily be changed up to suit any occasion.

I used Basic Black, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie cardstock to give my boxes the Autumnal feel that’s usually associated with Halloween and reinforced this with some leaves die cut using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.

I wanted a little texture on the solid leaves so stamped one of the images from Timeless Textures in Sahara Sand and then layered them all onto a Crumb Cake oval die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits. A tiny bow of Linen Thread finished off my cluster of leaves and I love how this simple element turned out.

The sentiment was created using the Make A Difference stamp set and I stamped it before I die cut the oval shape to make sure it was where I wanted it. I drew a line to keep the “wicked” straight and then just eyeballed the “fun” – which is, of course, crooked 😉

One thing I love about alphabet sets is being able to create my own sentiments to fit the occasion and what I need to add them to. I’d originally planned a much bigger sentiment than this one, but it was too big so I just came up with something shorter & problem solved 🙂

A few black rhinestones (retired) added a little sparkle and although these ones are no longer available there are lots of other options or you could simply colour some regular rhinestones with a black sharpie for the same look.

Here’s the How To:

Finished Dimensions: 3″ x 2-1/8″ x 5/8″
Cardstock: 6-3/8″ x 4-1/4″
Belly Band: 1-1/4″ x 6″

• Score @ 2-1/8″, 2-3/4″,4-7/8″ & 5-1/2″ (on the 6-3/8″ side)
• Turn 90º
• Score @ 5/8″ & 3-5/8″ (on the 4-1/4″ side)
• Fold and burnish all score lines
• Trim and notch the small tabs as shown and remove two sections to create a front flap
• Round the corners of this flap (optional)
• Apply adhesive to the small inner tabs and adhere to back sides of box
• Apply adhesive to the front sides and adhere to back sides
• Finger fold the belly band around the box with the join at the front
• Burnish the folds and adhere together
• Decorate as desired

I really enjoy getting the most out of the supplies that I have and was so happy with how these little treat holders turned out. A simple change of sentiment would make them perfect for my readers who celebrate Thanksgiving and mix up the colours and embellishments and these could be used for lots of different occasions.
