Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | One Wild Ride
I thought I’d start the week off with a quick and easy card that uses an old favourite of mine, One Wild Ride. This is a great set, that’s perfect for masculine cards and as I’m running low on my stash of guy cards that’s what I wanted to make.
The design is from this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch #288 challenge and it took me a while to narrow down what I wanted to do, sometimes it’s hard when there’s too much choice 😉 Make sure you hop over and check out all the great ideas, even if you don’t play along, challenge blogs can be a great source of inspiration 🙂
I used only three colours on today’s card – Grey Granite, Night of Navy and Whisper White with just a few touches of Sahara Sand. I find a simple colour palette easier to create with when creating masculine cards, it helps me to not over-complicate things.
The background is a piece of Twinkle Twinkle DSP and this starry night pattern is my favourite in this paper pack. I layered this onto a piece of Grey Granite cardstock and then a Thick Whisper White card base.
I trimmed a piece of Grey Granite cardstock to 6 x 6.5cm, rounded two corners using the Detailed Trio Punch and stamped some of the accent images from One Wild Ride and Timeless Textures to create a background.
The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark and Night of Navy ink and then heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder, this added a lovely shine and some subtle texture to my simple card.
I layered this onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock cut at 6.5 x 7.8cm with the corners rounded as well and then adhered this flat to my card front.
The motorbike image was stamped in Grey Granite onto Whisper White cardstock and die cut with the second smallest Stitched Shapes Framelits circles. I popped this up with dimensionals and added a couple of fussy cut shields for decoration.
The final embellishment was a few Twinkle Adhesive Backed Sequins in silver to add a little sparkle and I thought I did remarkably well to only add three 😉
I’m trying hard to make sure I “finish” the insides of my cards now and a few of the same images – stamped off once and some simple layering was all this card needed. I left the inside blank to make my card suitable for multiple occasions and now I have a great guy card to add to my stash 🙂
I really enjoyed pulling out some older stamps to make today’s card and love how well Grey Granite suits the designs in this stamp set – I hope you like it too.
Cheers,
Karen
