In Color Fun

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson |In Color Fun

I find when the new In Colors are released each year, I need to spend quite some time playing with them to add them mentally to my colour line up, or I tend to not use them much – sometimes not until the year they retire 😦

So today, I have another project featuring the *new* 2018-2020 In Colors, but this time I’m using the new 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper packs. I’m so glad Stampin’ Up! has offered these again, perfectly coordinating DSP for every colour in basic designs and available in all the colour families as well as both the In Colors, makes me one happy crafter 🙂

Little Paper Party, Picture Perfect Birthday, 2018-2020 In Color DSP, Stitched Labels Framelits, #1

Today I have a little treat bag that is super simple to make a would make a great favour, especially for a rainbow themed party. There are four designs in each DSP pack so you could mix them up, but I just used my favourite one for this project.

The sentiment is from Picture Perfect Birthday and was stamped using the same colours and die cut with the *new* Stitched Labels Framelits. I can see these quickly becoming one of my go-to die sets like the Stitched Shapes Framelits

I die cut the same label from the largest leftover piece from creating the bag and used the reverse side for some contrast, adhered them together and added them to the bag with dimensionals.

The ribbon ties in with the rainbow theme nicely and I used sponge daubers, the new 2018-2020 In Colors and the Whisper White Classic Weave Ribbon to create it. I love how it turned out, but wouldn’t recommend it if you wanted to make lots of these, as it’s a little time-consuming and even though I heat set the ink, it still rubs off a little, but for this project it was worth it 🙂

If you wanted to make lots of these I’d recommend using the new 1/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon, which is available in all the new In Colors for a rainbow look or just plain white, which would look great as well –  plus, no inky fingers 😉

Here’s the How To:

Finished Dimensions: 3-1/2″ x 1-3/4″ x 1″
DSP: 6″ x 6″

  • Score @ 1″, 2-3/4″, 3-3/4″, 5-1/2″
  • Turn 90º
  • Score @ 1″, 4-1/2″
  • With the 4 score lines running vertically cut up to the 1″ horizontal score line to create the base, remove the small tab on one side
  • Turn 180º
  • Remove the small rectangle from side tab, keep the next section, cut up to the 4-1/2″ score line to create the lid, remove the remaining sections
  • Round the lid corners (optional)
  • Assemble as usual

These little cuties might be small. but they can hold more than enough goodies for a nice treat. I’d look for some rainbow coloured sweets like Starbursts or mini Mentos tubes for these ones or maybe some Lego minifigs or small crayons/pencils as a non-sugar option.

I haven’t decided what I’m going to use these for yet, but there are birthdays coming up and I’m getting a fun idea for my husband’s that these would be perfect for, I’ll have to let you in on it afterwards though 😉

Cheers,
Karen
