Made for Mum – 2,4,6,8, Box

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Made for Mum – 2,4,6,8 Box

Today I have the third project in my Made for Mum series to share with you. It’s a basic 2,4,6,8 Box, but I think it’s perfect to show off the over-the-top Painted with Love DSP (retiring – available while stocks last) and this one is also nice and big to fit lots of lovely surprise in 🙂

Sorry my post is a little later than intended, speed bumps of life I’m afraid, they really slow you down!

Little Paper Party, Ribbon of Courage, Painted with Love DSP, 2,4,6,8 Box, #1.jpg

The finished size of this box is 6″ x 2″ x 2″ and requires an 8-1/4″ x 11″ piece of cardstock for the base (nearly a full A4 sheet).

I chose Rich Razzleberry for the base and this gorgeous ombre style pattern from the Painted with Love DSP to add to each side. The panels are 5-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ each and I used four so my box is lovely from all sides. This is a great way to use up leftover pieces but I cut a full piece 5-3/4″ x 7″ and cut my panels from that to have a continuous pattern.

The showcase of this project is really the lovely paper, so I kept the rest of the decoration quite simple so it didn’t become too fussy.

I heat embossed a sentiment from Ribbon of Courage in gold onto some Sweet Sugarplum cardstock (retiring – available while stocks last) and punched it out with the Pretty Label Punch. A couple of holes let me thread this tag onto some organza ribbon and tie a pretty bow 🙂

The final touch were a few gold hearts from the Metallic Enamel Shapes (retiring – available while stocks last). I’m going to miss these ones, I use them all the time, but at there are new sparkles coming that I’m sure I’ll enjoy just as much 🙂

Here’s the how to:

Finished Dimensions: 6″ x 2″ x 2″
Cardstock: 8-1/4″ x 11″
DSP: 5-3/4″ x 7″ (Cut four 1-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ panels from this)

  • Score @ 2″, 4″, 6″ & 8″ (on the 8-1/4″ side)
  • Score @ 1/2″, 2-1/2″, 8-1/2″ & 10-1/2″ (on the 11″ side)
  • With the 1/4″ tab at the top, trim the box as shown in the diagram above
  • Round the corners on the tabs and side flaps – it will help the box close easier
  • Add a thumb notch at the top of the box using a small circle punch (optional)
  • Add you DSP panels and re-punch the notch again
  • Add a strong adhesive to the small 1/4″ tab (I used Tear n’ Tape) and assemble your box
  • Decorate as desired

This box can hold a variety of goodies, but I’m planning to put some lovely hand cream in this one. I made these as Christmas gifts for the ladies in our family and two of The Body Shop hand creams will fit perfectly inside with a little tissue paper.

My original bag is nearly full with this big box inside, so I’ll have to keep the rest of my goodies small to fit them all in, but plan on filling it to the brim 😉

Cheers,
Karen
