Celebrate the good stuff

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Celebrate the good stuff

Hi everyone! I’m back after a lovely break over Easter spending time with family and eating more chocolate than is good for me – is there such a thing 😉 I hope you all enjoyed your Easter break as well.

Well, I guess it’s time to get back into things 😦 and now Sale-A-Bration is behind us – wasn’t it great BTW? the next big thing coming up will be the new 2018-19 Annual Catalogue in June, which means the retirement list will be out soon – like tomorrow… aargh!!! and the five gorgeous 2016-18 In Colours will be on it!

I know I want to play with these a little more before they’re gone and the colour challenge over at TGIF Challenges #TGIFC154 was a great opportunity to break a few of them out 🙂

I used my Stamparatus to stamp the three bows from Picture Perfect Birthday in each of the colours, which made it easy to get them all in a straight line – I think I’m straight line impaired so being able to do this is pretty amazing 🙂

After I’d stamped the bows I removed my card and added the confetti by hand. I then popped it back into the Stamparatus and inked up the sentiment in Basic Black so I could stamp it several times to get an intense black that would contrast well with the bright background.

I’m not sure if you noticed that so far I’ve been referring to my card as a card and not a card front, I’d originally planned a clean and simple card (CAS) with just the stamping previously mentioned and that’s it, but some over zealous inking put paid to that and I had to come up with something else.

I didn’t want to waste what I’d already done so I die cut out the main section using an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to add to a different card base.

I covered a Thick Whisper White card base in some of the Picture Perfect Party DSP –  one of my favourite patterns from that pack and created a layered banner from scraps of coordinating cardstock. I wanted a little more sparkle and a few loops of Mini Gold Sequin Trim were perfect.

I popped up my sentiment oval with dimensionals over the sequins and banner, added some Clear Wink of Stella to the bows to make them shimmer and my card was done.

I really like the bright, festive card I ended up with even though it’s completely different from what I’d set out to make, I guess that old saying is true, there are no mistakes in stamping, just opportunities to embellish 🙂

Tomorrow the Retirement List will come out and I’ll get it up on my blog ASAP as many items are only available while stocks last. The 2016-18 In Colours will be on that list so if any of these colours are favourites make sure to stock up on ink  refills and cardstock soon. Retiring In Colour supplies usually sell out in a few weeks.
