Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson |Above the clouds…
I’m sure I’m not the only person who saw the Rainbow Builder Framelits in the Occasions Catalogue and immediately thought how well they’d coordinate with the hot air balloons from the Lift Me Up stamp set. After all, clouds and hot air balloons are just meant to be together 🙂
So, after thinking about it for months I’ve actually made a project using them both, yay! The design was inspired by this week’s Freshly Made Sketches #327 challenge, it was the perfect reminder to finally put these two together 🙂
I created a sky background for the clouds and balloons using a Sponge Brayer and Soft Sky ink. This was my first time trying this and I really like the ombre effect I was able to achieve.
I stamped the balloons in Lemon Lime Twist, Tempting Turquoise and Tangerine Tango for some bright pops of colour against the subtle background and die cut them out with the coordinating Up & Away Thinlits.
The two smaller balloons were adhered flat to the background with some Vellum clouds over the top and the largest balloon was popped up with dimensionals for some added interest.
The lower clouds were die cut from Whisper White cardstock using the Rainbow Builder Framelits. I cut them down to the height I wanted afterwards and sponged the edges with Soft Sky ink to add some definition.
The tallest cloud was adhered flat to the card front and the middle layer was popped up with dimensionals. The lowest layer was elevated using Foam Adhesive Strips which are about twice the depth of dimensionals, they made it so easy to add the extra height I needed on the front.
A sentiment from Lift Me Up was stamped in Basic Grey on the lowest cloud and a few sequins and glitter epoxy shapes added the shimmer and sparkle that I love 🙂
I finished off the inside with the same layers as the front and the other half of the sentiment in Basic Grey. Two of the smaller balloons add a little colour and tie everything together nicely.
I hope you liked my simple project today, it was so much fun to put together and I know I’m going to have to make more with other images emerging from those clouds 🙂 I’ll be back tomorrow with my fourth project in my Bunny Hop, see you then!
Cheers,
Karen
