Time for a Coffee Break?

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Time for a Coffee Break?

I know my very first project for 2018 isn’t from the *new* Occasions Catalogue – horrified gasps – but I like to make sure I still use my other favourites from the Annual Cataloguejust while I’m waiting for my Occasions goodies to arrive 😉

While I am waiting though, I thought I’d play along with a sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches (FMS318).  I love it when a card comes to mind straight away when I see a design and this one worked out just as I’d imagined 🙂

Valentine’s Day is not too far away and I thought this design was perfect for a clean and simple masculine card and as both my husband and I are avid coffee lovers, the Coffee Break Suite seemed the perfect fit.

I used the Coffee Café DSP for the background and stripe and die cut two of the takeaway cups with the matching Coffee Cup Framelits. Some simple faces were added with a Basic Black Marker – I need some practice there – and they were mounted on a Stitched Shapes oval with a few stamped Early Espresso hearts.

I really struggle not to over-embellish my projects – especially masculine ones – but couldn’t help myself and had to add a few Garden Green hearts from the Regals Enamel Shapes to the front to finish it off.

The inside sentiment was stamped with the Labeler Alphabet in Early Espresso ink. I’m so glad I finally bought this set, I love being able to create my own sentiments and wish I had gotten it sooner.

To keep my sentiment centred I lightly drew some lines in pencil first and rubbed them out after the ink was completely dry.

A few fussy cut elements from the Coffee Break DSP added a little colour and interest and reminded me of our morning coffee time together before the busyness of the day begins.

I hope you like my simple little card today, I really enjoyed making this one and know my husband will as well when I give it to him 🙂

Cheers,
Karen
