12 Days of Christmas | Day 11

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | 12 Days of Christmas – Day 11

Welcome to Day 11 of my 12 Days of Christmas series. Today I have a quick and easy, last-minute gift idea, made using the Mini Pizza Boxes. This type of gifting is perfect for me, as try as I might I always seem to be one of those last-minute makers 😉

I made these as the teacher gifts for my son this year, the actual gift is really just a token , but the packaging – hopefully – makes them seem much more luxurious.

I used 3″ x 3″ Quilted Christmas DSP (retiring – available while supplies last) squares for the panels on my boxes so they would coordinate with the class gifts that we made a few weeks ago (you can see them in this post here). I backed them with a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ Basic Black layer, I love this contrast and think it makes the colours more vibrant, it also allowed me to use my favourite Black Shimmer Ribbon as a closure 🙂

To make my box just a little more special, I added panels to all four sides as well as the base inside. The side panels used a 3/4″ x 3-1/4″ of Basic Black layered with a 1/2″ x 3″ piece of DSP. I attached all the layers and the finishes panels to the outside of the box using Tombow and the inside panel with Fast Fuse.

I had to use The Little Things (retiring & reduced) stamp set on the top of my boxes and am ashamed to say this is the first ink this cute design has seen. I stamped each image twice in Real Red, Garden Green and Soft Suede so I could mix the colours up on each one with some fussy cut elements.

The main sentiment was die cut with a square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits and layered onto a scalloped glimmer square die cut using the Layering Squares Framelits. I chose Silver and Red Glimmer Paper to coordinate with the tinsel trim on the pencil gifts and to add the indispensable sparkle – I hadn’t forgotten 😉

I popped up the centre banner and the finished sentiment panel with dimensionals for some extra texture and placed my dimensions just at the top and bottom of the square so the ribbon could easily slide underneath.

As I mentioned earlier the actual gift is quite small, I found some seasonal Lindt balls which fitted perfectly inside and hopefully will make a special treat to have with a cuppa or two.

We added a card to the boxes (one of these ones here) with a little Christmas cracker joke book inside, it’s full of those corny jokes that kids seem to love – and I don’t mind myself from time to time 😉 I’d planned to put them inside the box, but they were just too big  TIP: make sure you know your measurements when you shop for fillers 🙂

I hope you liked today’s project, these Mini Pizza Boxes make gift giving so easy, they’re already pre-made, you just have to fold to assemble, they’re food safe and don’t need very many supplies to dress them up and they’re on the carryover list so we’ll have them for a while yet – I can already see some Easter ones in the works 😉

I’ll see you all tomorrow with Day 12.
