Festive Friday

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Festive Friday

Today I have a Christmas card to share with you, but I have to warn you, this is the strangest, most non-traditional Christmas card I’ve ever created and I’m still not quite, 100% sure that I really like it, but boy, did I have fun making it 🙂

I’m playing along with the Global Design Project #110 sketch challenge this week and while I’ve stayed true to the design, everything else is just a little bit crazy!!!

Little Paper Party, Eastern Palace Suite, Watercolor Christmas, Brightly Lit Christmas, #1

When I saw this week’s design, I knew I wanted to use one of the Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers for the circle in the middle. I’ve hardly used these beauties and they seemed perfect for a Christmas themed project, so that’s where I started and the rest of the card sort of grew from there.

I heat embossed a sentiment from Watercolor Christmas in gold on Dapper Denim cardstock and added the sticker afterwards. I fussy cut around the outside of the sticker to create the medallion and that’s when the crazy started 🙂

I think my card ended up with a real retro vibe to it, the Eastern Palace DSP panels remind me of 70’s wallpaper and vintage ornaments, add some exposed brick behind and with the over-sized, exotic medallion somehow, I created a big thumbs up to the in-your-face style of that era 😉

A little twist of Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon, a Gold Foil star and a few Glitter Enamel Dots embellished the front of this crazy concoction – even more!!!

Little Paper Party, Eastern Palace Suite, Watercolor Christmas, Brightly Lit Christmas, #3

I added Dapper Denim, Lemon Lime Twist and Very Vanilla layers to the inside and used one of the Eastern Medallions Thinlits to create a wreath effect. A sentiment from Brightly Lit Christmas just fitted in the centre and wrapped up my crazy card 🙂

I hope you liked my project today – hopefully someone will 😉 and even though it’s not quite my cup of tea it was the funnest crafting I’ve had for a long time.
