Not Quite a Shaker Card

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Not Quite a Shaker Card

Quite often when I’m creating I’ll start with a very clear idea in my head of the finished project, but when I get to the end it rarely looks how I’d imagined. I’m not complaining though, it’s the part of the creative process that I enjoy the most and helps me add my own personal twist to an idea and make it my own.

Anyway, today’s project was inspired by Stampin’ Up!’s October Paper Pumpkin, this is a monthly kit subscription that is only available in Canada and the U.S. ( I’m so jealous ) and this month’s kit has some gorgeous shaker cards that I wanted to replicate, which was the goal, but not quite where I ended up 🙂

I’d originally planned to create a shaker card using the trees from the Card Front Builder Thinlits, but once I’d created the little scene I wanted, shaker bits seemed just a little too much so I decided to create a not shaker card instead 🙂

The trees, deer, moon and stars in the central scene were all die cut using the Card Front Builder Thinlits and the snow bank was cut from a Stitched Shapes oval.

I die cut a circle opening from the front panel and then embossed it with the Woodland TIEF to add to the woodsy feel. I wanted to neaten up the circle edges from the embossing so added a frame die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits and after I’d popped up the front panel on my little scene I added it to a layer of Be Merry DSP matted onto a Basic Black card base.

The sentiment is from Christmas Pines and I stamped it twice using my Stamp-a-ma-jig in Momento Black ink to get a deep, rich colour. I fussy cut it out and added three layers of Clear Wink of Stella which tied in beautifully with the Glimmer Paper in the central scene and popped it up with Mini Dimensionals on the card front.

Inside has two more strips of the same DSP 3/8″ wide x 10cm and another sentiment from the Christmas Pines set. The word “sparkle” also received some Wink of Stella and sparkles beautifully in person 🙂

I hoped you liked my “not” version of Stampin’ Up!’s shaker cards, I quite like the result I ended up with.
