Festive Friday

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Festive Friday

I have to admit that Lemon Lime Twist was not an immediate favourite of mine when the new In Colours were released this year – shocking I know 😉 but I’m a complete convert now and find I’m using it on everything!!!

I’ve loved the combination of Pool Party and Real Red at Christmas for quite some time now and think the addition of Lemon Lime Twist adds a little zesty accent that’s perfect for our  Summer Christmas celebrations 🙂

Little Paper Party, Festive Friday 2017, Quilt Builder Framelits, Quilt Top TIEF, Cookie-Cutter Christmas, #1

To create the topper on today’s Christmas version of Wednesday’s pizza boxes I used the Quilt Builder Framelits, Quilted Christmas DSP and Quilt Top TIEF that are all part of the Quilted Christmas Suite to create a fun faux mini quilt.

I adhered four layers of cardstock and DSP together first before running them through the Big Shot with the embossing folder to create the quilted effect that I wanted. Four layers makes it quite thick so I was careful with the sandwich I made to run through my Big Shot.

I have the old style platform for my Big Shot and used no tabs, a cutting plate below and above the folder and ran it through spine first slowly and had no problems. However, each Big Shot is calibrated a little differently and I would experiment with what works best for yours, I would hate for anyone to ruin their embossing folder 😦

I made the same type of belly band as Wednesday’s project and used the Black Shimmer Ribbon again. I used Basic Black as one of the cardstock layers as well and love those little touches that add some richness and depth to the other colours.

Even though the belly band keeps the box closed perfectly I added some extra ribbon to attach a sentiment. I didn’t think the boxes were especially Christmas looking so having the sentiment attached separately means I can easily change it out for a different occasion and can you have too much ribbon at Christmas?? I don’t think so 😉

The sentiment is from Cookie-Cutter Christmas and seemed perfect for the cozy, homely imagery that pops into my head whenever I think of quilts.

The Quilted Christmas Suite is on pages 4-5 of the Holiday Catalogue, I love all the products that are part of this suite and the fun colour combinations and designs that makes this suite so versatile and suitable for much more than just Christmas projects.

Stampin’ Up! have been very clever with their DSP designs this year, while there are plenty of seasonally specific designs for Halloween, Autumn and Christmas the reverse of those patterns are usually more generic and perfect for year round use.

In October, Stampin’ Up! will be having an awesome DSP promotion (details coming soon), this will be the perfect time to pick up some extra packs of the designs you love and, as you can use it year-round, you really can’t buy too much??? – that’s what I’m telling myself anyway 😉
