12 Weeks of Halloween | Week 7

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | 12 Weeks of Halloween – Week 7

This week I’m showing off the Treat Tubes in the Holiday Catalogue. These are a fun way to give all sorts of little treats and I wanted a way to give a few at a time so created a little stand that will fit inside the Wood Crate.

I think they turned out beautifully and would look so sweet sitting on a desk, as a table favour or a special treat for a child. I liked having different goodies in each tube – choice is nice and you could also personalise your tubes with the recipients favourites 😉

I made the crates from cardstock for this project to give some extra support to the inserts holding the tubes, and created the inserts in the same colour.

The headstones in the background were made using the Everyday Label Punch and Basic Grey cardstock. A little stamping from the Wood Words and Spooky Cat stamp sets add some interest and you could change out the welcome – it just tickled my fancy – to a more traditional one.

The cats are really the star of my simple decoration and were punched from the Spooky Night DSP with the coordinating Cat Punch. Of course, they needed to be dressed up for their special night and are sporting some rather fetching collars 😉

A hat and pumpkin were fussy cut from the same DSP and finished off the little scene on the front of the crate. I kept my decoration quite simple on such a small project, but you could easily add more if you prefer.

If you have the Patterned Pumpkin Thinlits you could also die cut the pumpkins which would make decorating even faster. I’m really enjoying the matching paper and cutting options that Stampin’ Up! have given us, it’s perfect for the not-so-good fussy cutters among us, that would be me 🙂

The tubes have been simply decorated with some Basic Black Baker’s Twine and a sweet little stamped tag, die cut using the Wood Words Framelits, it’s a perfect fit 🙂

In these tubes I have Reese’s Pieces, Jelly Belly’s, Tic Tacs and Chocolate Coated Coffee Bean. There are lots of other small goodies that will fit in there as well and I like the portion control that such a small container gives as well, a good idea for kids – and maybe some adults 😉

I made two inserts to support the tubes in the crate. The lower one stops the rounded bottoms of the tubes from sliding around and keeps them upright in the crate.

It uses a 3-5/8″ x 2-1/8″ piece of cardstock scored @ 1/4″ on all sides. Notch in the little tabs to help it close better and I found Mini Glue Dots were the best way to adhere them to the longer sides.

I used a 3/4″ Circle Punch for the holes and created a template to make them easy to line up on each piece. I found the centre of the main section (1-5/8″ x 3-1/8″) and adhered a 3/4″ circle to that and then one on either side approximately the same distance apart. I punched out the holes and then drew inside them for my other pieces. I only had to work it out once that way 🙂

The upper insert is 2-5/8″ x 6-3/8″ scored @ 1/2″ on both sides on the 2-5/8″ side and 1-5/8″ from each end of the 6-3/8″ side. The tabs that fold under the 1-5/8″ sections are a little long so just trim off a little from the end.

This piece has a tendency to get caught on the lower tab of the crate when it’s inserted, but a bone folder between the insert and tab helps it slide into place easily.

I hope you liked my project today and will come back on Friday to see the Christmas version.

    1. Thanks Carol for your lovely comment, I’m so glad you liked my project 🙂 I really like to get the most out of my 3D framelits and this little crate is one of my favourites, I’m always on the lookout for different ways to use it.
