Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | You’re Delightful

Today I’m playing along with this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch! #237 challenge. I love the design this week, it’s a little different and although I came up with an idea pretty quickly, actually making my card was a bit of a challenge 🙂

The image on either side of the sentiment reminded me of fans, so I had my first attempt at making a half rosette. It wasn’t as difficult as I thought it might be, but I definitely could have used a few more hands to glue everything down at the same time.

The fans were made using the Whole Lot of Lovely DSP. I cut a piece 1″ x 11″ and scored it at every 1/4″. After I’d accordion folded it, I cut it in half and adhered each piece to a half circle of cardstock. To neaten up the base I glued a piece of Basic Black cardstock a little under 1/4″ wide to the bottom, this also stopped the rosette from spreading outwards as well. The finishing touch was a Gold Faceted Gem to mimic the hinge in the middle. I think my first half rosettes turned out quite well 🙂

The Powder Pink layer was embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder – my favourite – to add some subtle texture to the background.

As I’d embossed the background I fussy cut the sentiment from You’re Delightful and popped it up on Mini Dimensionals. I really like how it looks on this card, I think a flat sentiment would have been overpowered by the fans.

TIP: I really wanted the sentiment to be a rich black and couldn’t seem to get it dark enough using just my ink pads, so I went over my best impression with the Basic Black Marker and am really pleased with the intensity of colour I ended up with 🙂

I hope you liked my project today, although it’s pretty simple some parts were a little fiddly and time-consuming, but I think the result was worth it.
