Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Making lemonade
Today I have a cheerful shaker card to share with you using one of my favourite new sets in the 2017-18 Annual Catalogue, Lemon Zest. This is such a playful set with it’s distressed citrus outlines and funny sentiments and I’ve been wanting to pair it with the Jar of Love stamps and framelits ever since I first saw it, they just seem made for each other 🙂
I decided to create a shaker card from the jar as I haven’t made one in a while. My youngest son really wanted to help me with this one, so all the little segments are his handy work and the die cutting on the Big Shot – he loves cranking the dies through. As far as he’s concerned this is a collaborative effort and I have to give credit where it’s due 😉
The straw is from Coffee Café and die cut with the coordinating Coffee Cup Framelits, I really liked the effect this added but you could easily replicate this with just a skinny piece of cardstock. I should have angled the straw the other way but I’d adhered this element down before adding my lemons – it’s always the way, isn’t it?
The lemons and leaves were stamped tone on tone in Daffodil Delight and Old Olive and punched out with the coordinating Lemon Builder Punch.
TIP: To make the punching easier and less wasteful, stamp your images in the same orientation as the punch. For example: the lemon has a smaller end which is cut at bottom of the punch, so stamp your lemon with the small end facing downwards.
I adhered the jar and lemons to an Old Olive layer embossed with the Layering Leaves Dynamic TIEF – I really love this one, it coordinates with so many different stamp sets, but I especially love it with this set 🙂
Inside has one more slice and a coordinating sentiment in Momento Black ink. While I really like the punny sentiments with this set I wish there a few more, I think my next order might have to include the Labeler Alphabet so I can make whichever ones I want.
I hope you liked my cheery card today, I can see a few more citrus in jar projects in the future, I haven’t finished with this idea yet 🙂
