Happy Birthday, textures of wood

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Happy Birthday, textures of wood

Welcome back to another Masculine Monday! I have a fun card to share with you today that is also an awesome way to use up the little leftover pieces of DSP that paper crafters seem to accumulate 🙂

The background style is CASE’d from Shannon Lane of Crush On Colour, I love this rustic look and can see myself making it many, many times over the coming year.

To create the background I used assorted strips of Wood Textures DSP that were 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″ wide – like I said, it’s a great way to use up your leftover pieces 🙂 The only editing I did was to use pieces that had a strong wood grain image on them, these seemed to complement each other the best.

Once I’d cut my strips and laid them out in a pattern I liked, I glued them down onto a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock. I chose this colour in case there were any gaps in the joins and it’s hardly noticeable as it coordinates nicely with most of the designs that I chose.

I die cut my sentiment using the Happy Birthday Thinlits from the lightest Wood Textures design and then three more times from Whisper White. These were layered on top of each other and added the texture I love while still keeping the overall design clean and guy friendly 🙂

The little sentiment is from the coordinating Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set and was stamped in Basic Grey on a scrap of the same DSP and popped up with dimensionals.

Inside was very simply finished with a layer of Smoky Slate and a strip of DSP down one side. I didn’t add a sentiment inside as I felt the card front really said it all, so I have plenty of room to add my own personal message.

The Wood Textures DSP really is such a great paper stack and so versatile, I just love it ♥ ♥♥ and I’m so glad I found this stylish way to use up my scraps, I hope you like it too 🙂
