Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Easy Eastern Elegance
The project I have to share with you today is just a basic 2, 4, 6, 8 box, but all dressed up with the gorgeous foiled sheets from the Eastern Elegance Specialty DSP. I have to admit to hoarding these special sheets, they’re just too beautiful to use on everyday projects, but I’m making it a mission to use them and am so happy with how they look on these boxes 🙂
The height of a 2, 4, 6, 8 box can be altered depending on what size you’d like, this one uses a piece of cardstock 8-1/2″ x 11″ and the finished dimensions are 2″ x 2″ x 6″, it’s a generous sized box and can hold lots and lots of goodies.
The boxes are made from Dapper Denim and Thick Very Vanilla cardstock – I’m so excited that we finally have this 🙂 – which coordinates with the colours in the foiled DSP. I cut the DSP to 1-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ to leave a small border around each piece and you’ll be able to cover two boxes with one 12″ x 12″ piece.
TIP: If you want to be even more economical with these sheets, just cover the front panel, they’ll go even further this way.
The DSP is really the hero on these boxes and just looked so elegant I had to keep the embellishment very simple or they would have become too fussy. I heat embossed a sentiment from Tin of Tags – a carryover from last years Holiday Catalogue – in gold and punched it out with the Pretty Label Punch. This was threaded onto a wrap of 1/8″ Gold Ribbon and tied off with a simple bow.
A Quick and Easy Tutorial:
Finished Dimensions: 2″ x 2″ x 6″
Cardstock: 8-1/2″ x 11″
DSP: 1-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ (x4)
- With the cardstock in portrait score @ 2″, 4″, 6″ & 8″
- Turn 90° and score @ 1/2″, 2-1/2″, 8-1/2″ and 10-1/2″
- Fold and burnish the score lines
- Trim as shown in the photograph
- Round the corners on the lid flaps
- Round the corners on the side flaps (optional)
- Add DSP panels
- Punch a thumb notch on the front panel with a circle punch (optional)
- Add adhesive to the 1/2″ tab and assemble your box
- TIP: The lid tab and flaps may require additional trimming to ensure easy closing
- Embellish as desired
I know it’s a bit early, but these boxes would be perfect for Christmas, I nearly added a Christmas sentiment but restrained myself and used a generic one instead, however if you did want to get a head start on your Christmas preparations these boxes fold flat so are perfect for making in advance
