Today I’m playing along with the Global Design Project #094, it’s been a while since I’ve joined in with this weekly challenge and I really enjoyed finding inspiration and trying something different with this week’s sketch 🙂

I pushed myself this week to use a colour that I’m really not too fond of, Rose Red. I guess it’s inevitable that there will be some colours that just aren’t our cup of tea, but it’s good to get outside our comfort zones sometimes and if you’re lucky you’ll find just the right combination to bring you back for more 🙂

Anywhoo, I loved the stripes on this weeks sketch and I love, love , love the large floral stamp from Wood Words so decided to create my stripes with it. I used post-it notes and my awesome Grid Paper to create 1cm wide floral stripes in Rose Red ink on matching cardstock for a subtle design.

The new Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folders – such a long name 😉 gives a deep impression and can alter the size of your cardstock a little so I cut a piece of Night of Navy slightly smaller than my card base and just ran that through the embossing folder to add the extra texture I wanted without distorting the base of my card.

A popped up sentiment banner from Wood Words and a couple of hearts die cut with the coordinating Wood Crate Framelits plus a twist of Gold Metallic Thread and a little Wink of Stella finished off my simple card, and although Rose Red is still not quite my cup of tea, I do like the colour combination I ended up with – I think small doses are the key 😉

The inside received a little love as well with some simple layering and a deep border of the roses, this time in Night of Navy, across the bottom.
