Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Wood Words meet the 2017-19 In Colors
I have a fun little set of 3″ x 3″ cards to share with you today made using the Wood Words Bundle and the *new* 2017-19 In Colors. The little wood crate is perfect for this size card and would make a lovely gift or handy to just keep on your desk for a quick little note.
I made the crate using the Wood Crate Framelits and Wood Textures DSP. Such a quick and easy box to put together, you just cut two pieces, fold on the score lines, add adhesive to the tabs and one base piece and assemble.
Although the crate is cute, todays post really is about the cards, they just turned out so sweet and who would have thought that I quite like roosters in some pretty unconventional colours? 😉
The card bases are 3″ x 6″ strips of Thick Whisper White scored and folded at 3″ and you can get 3 from one sheet of A4 cardstock. The sentiments, roosters and Stitched Shapes circles were cut from the remnants and I still have plenty of scraps left for other projects.
I stamped the roses from Wood Words in Smoky Slate at the bottom of each card, I thought this was a nice neutral that went with all the In Colors and the grey tones in the piece of DSP I chose.
The roosters and sentiments were stamped in Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink and Tranquil Tide and die cut with the Wood Crate Framelits and the Bunch of Banners Framelits. The rooster was layered on a stitched circle and a scalloped circle of the matching cardstock, this was popped up with dimensionals over a twist of Copper Trim.
The sentiment was adhered to the top right of each card and I just trimmed off the extra afterwards. I wanted to keep it quite tight for such a small card.
I didn’t make envelopes for this set but you could easily make them using the Envelope Punch Board. I think if I do I’ll probably choose the same wood grain DSP. A 3″ x 3″ card only needs a piece of paper 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ to make the envelope, perfect for a 6″ x 6″ paper stack 🙂
Stampin’ Up! have released some videos showcasing some of their new products and I thought I’d share the one for the Wood Textures Suite again in case you missed it the first time. I’ll be sharing more videos over the coming weeks, they’re a great way to really see the products in action and get some different ideas about how to use them.
I hope you liked my little card set today, they are so cute in person and the Copper Trim adds a lovely soft shimmer. I love the distressed look of the stamps in the Wood Words stamp set and know that I’m going to get my moneys worth out of them over the coming year 🙂
