Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson | Sending Love on Valentine’s Day
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I hope you’re having a lovely day wherever you are and whatever you’re doing. My husband comes home tonight, so celebrations here will be even more low-key than usual, but there will be chocolate! My boys are not overly fussed on fancy dinners etc… but I do know they’d be disappointed if there wasn’t a sweet treat for them and I’d like to share the little bags I made for them this year.
I made a self-closing bag for each one of them and followed this tutorial by Dawn Griffith of Dawn’s Stamping Thoughts. The original measurements made the biggest bag at the back, but it held a few more treats than I was planning to give so I made some alterations to create some smaller ones – and it seemed only fair that my husband should have a few more treats than the boys 😉
I used Basic Black cardstock as the base for all the boxes as I love the bold contrast with the Sending Love DSP and thought it added a masculine feel to them. The tag is die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits and embellished with a couple of love notes made with the Sending Love Bundle. I used the coordinating ribbon to tie it onto the bag and found that you can still pop the box open with it on, I love it when things work out like that 🙂
The original bag uses a piece of cardstock 8-1/2″ x 6″ (finished dimensions: 4″W x 4″H x 2-7/8″D) but if you use our A4 cardstock across the width and cut it just a little shorter at 5-3/4″and you can get two from one sheet of cardstock.
I did a bit of playing with the dimensions to come up with the smaller box and this one uses a piece of cardstock 5″ x 7-1/2″, which gives it a final size of 3-1/2″W x 3″H x 2-3/8″D. I used a smaller circle for the tag as the box is smaller and there wasn’t room for the second envelope so I ended up just popping it under the ribbon which I think looks very sweet 🙂

I highly recommend watching the video if you’d like to try these, it’s really easy once you’ve made one 🙂
I love how these little boxes turned out and I know my boys will at love them too – their contents anyway 😉
See you soon!
Cheers,
Karen
