Nuts About You

Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator Karen Robinson – Nuts About You

Sometimes when a new catalogue is released it’s easy to forget about all the wonderful products available in our other catalogues, so today I’m revisiting an old favourite, Acorny Thank You and have a card and matching gift for Valentine’s Day.

Little Paper Party, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Karen Robinson - Australia, Acorny Thank You, Acorn Builder punch, Sending Love DSP.jpg

I really wanted to use the Sending Love DSP so I chose a red, white and gold colour scheme which looks bright and fresh and I like how it adds a non traditional feel to the acorns. I mixed and matched the stamped and DSP parts of the acorns and popped some elements up to add extra texture.

There’s quite a lot of white in the background and it was looking a bit bland, so I ran it through the Woodland Embossing Folder which tied in nicely with the acorns and added interest but still kept all the white which such busy decoration seemed to need.

The coordinating gift is a little jar, filled with fruit and nut and decorated in the same colour way but using the Love Note Framelits and matching ribbon. I could have tied the tag on but as this jar is hexagonal I decided to just adhere it to one of the flat sides with Tear and Tape.

I think these would look lovely as favours at a wedding, engagement etc… their simple decoration would make them quick to assemble and there are loads of sweet or savoury options you could fill them with.

Today’s project is perfect for using up the scraps that all paper crafters seem to accumulate. All the decoration on both the card and jar were made from leftovers, only the card base and layers needed to be cut from full sheets of cardstock.

I think this little set will be going to my husband this year, fruit and nut are one of his favourites and as we’re all a bit nuts, the card is a perfect fit! 🙂

I hope you like today’s project, I think it’s fun and a little bit quirky so it ticks the right boxes for me but it could easily be made in a more traditional colour way which would look just as sweet.

See you soon!

Cheers,
Karen
